Back then, it wasn’t as easy to obtain information about these subjects. Nowadays, we have excessive access to the internet, and it’s really not okay to not be educated on these things, let alone go on a talk show and be offensive. So yes, if they talked like this in 2021, they would be held accountable. Just to add to my point, I’m pretty sure Cusack would never say something like this anymore - he’s obviously a leftist and pro-lgbtq. This here is a clear example of him just not being educated. So I don’t hold anything against him. But if he said it in 2021, then I absolutely would.

transgender = a persons whose assigned gender at birth is different from how they identify. transvestite = a person (typically a man) who enjoys dressing up as the opposite gender (cross-dressing). This is an outdated term. transsexual = a transgender person who has either undergone surgery or gone on hormones. not an umbrella term like transgender is, and this term is outdated: do not call anyone this unless they ask. The woman they are talking about in this interview, The Lady Chablis, was transgender.

This was a different time when information about being transgender wasn’t as plentiful as it is today, so I don’t judge either of them too harshly for their words. But John worked with her - he didn’t do any research? I hope he never said anything to her as ignorant as the things he said in this interview. Bless her soul, RIP.
