Very slick way of tinning and also like the reheating with a torch after the pour.

I really do love that you're keeping an old school art alive! So few people have any knowledge today about the technology of our grandparents and great-grandparents. And the way they could use a piece of pork rind wrapped in the worn away bearing as an emergency repair to get yourself home and do a real repair. I consider myself to be very lucky to have worked with my dad, my grandpa, and great-grandpa in their shops repairing almost anything. We could build and repair so much that would just be thrown out today.

My Grandfather used to be the Man when it came to Model T & A motor refurbs. Hell he was a Macinist who did everything. He layered in the babbit by hand with rods he forged on craddle. Thanks Bro.

I have a 1930 ford so I loved seeing how the babbitt pour is done. Thanks so much!

Thanks for showing this. I have a 1939 B that a shop in Cecil Ohio did for me and I wondered how it was done...

Thank you for this video. I have 5 Wisconsin twin motors, all with babbitt rod bearings. Ive mixed and matched rods to make one good motor so far.. I got 3 magneto's total so I need 4 more good rods lol unless I stick a chevy hei module on the others hahaha

Great video! Do those bearings need to be machined prior to use? Or just directly installed to the crankshaft?
@Maxim-S. Жыл бұрын
Конечно же, их протачивают под размер коленвала + слой масла

Wow, almost a lost art. Is that some kind of flux you brush onto the metal piece before the pour?
