John Deere 317 Skid-steer cranks and starts then dies 3 seconds later. Lock out feature.

In this video I show you the lock out feature on a John Deere 317 skidsteer and how to enter the default lock out code. If the code was never changed, this should help get you running again.
I was lucky and it still was the default. I believe this will work on other John Deere skid-loaders from different years and models.

I had the same problem. I thought it was either the battery or some sensor but thanks to this video I was able to fix it. It took me less than 30 seconds to fix it and before I couldn't use the machine for about 3 weeks trying to figure out what it was. 👍

@@SeidelRanch I got it going after i reset the 999 code but then after 15 mins it shut down again and was low on coolant ,now im wondering if it was a coolant issue to begin with. i checked the oil, and it was good. This is what happens when the boss leaves it with me to use and he's gone on a hunting trip. lol it's way better than replacing the engine.

If we are talking about the same light, I think that is the hydraulic lock light.

Just disable your security in the menu and you wont have to worry about the codes

Well, if you are using the default codes to protect the machine then you are not securing it anyway. This video tells you how to unlock it if you never used it before and accidently set it to locked. I recommend changing the code if you are wanting to lock it.
