I can’t think of two better, more dependable Deere tractors than the 318 & the 4020. Both are absolutely bulletproof!! With just normal, scheduled maintenance, I’ve yet to be let down by either. If you find either tractor in good running order, that fits your current needs, I’d snatch it up. Especially if you get a good deal on it as this gentleman says he did! The 317 is no slouch either!! Good luck & good health!! Grandpa

Unfortunately the weather hasn’t been the best for snow removal videos hoping to get a cold snap in late February to March that brings a few more good storms. It’s my favorite part of running this tractor and I’ve only had it out 3 times this year.

I got those LED lights for tractor that you gave me link to ,, they work great thank you ,, also the original view from garage looking down on drive way was best , moving us around we could see near as much ,, but the first view from garage was defiantly the best ,, and could hear way better also ,, thanks for the video

The first camera is my Iphone 7 and the second is a Gopro hero 3 that my dad uses for racing. My Iphone decided to stop working part way through so I lost a bunch of footage. The gopro kinda.... sucks.

I bought a tripod mount for my Iphone and a Swivel so hopefully it works out well. I might also pick up a Head mount. I'll look like a complete tool but you will see everything I do. I'm Glad you like the headlights. It's much cheaper and easier than trying to add a Light bar or light towers to the machine.

Wish my 318 sounded that good, I wonder why it sounds so different? Makes me want to get a blower to go with my blade. Hey Fink, if you could, would you please do a video on putting the front grill on and off the tractor? My 318 grill won't stay in, I think I am missing something at the top that holds it in, I have the two tangs along the bottom.
@MrFinkFixes5 жыл бұрын
I can make a video but if this helps let me know. There are the two alignment tabs on the bottom. Then the top has a bent clip that you should have to give a slight tap to to get it to snap into a position. It's a Tension clip

This is about the size of unit that i need. I used to farm, and, had all John Deere tractors. That was a long time ago, and, i am now getting tired of using my big walk behind snowblower. I live in extreme NorthEast Minnesota, we can get 8 feet of snow in the average season. How much would a rig like you have cost, if i can find one.
@MrFinkFixes5 жыл бұрын

Nice running 318, it sounds good. Is the engine original or have you rebuilt it?
@MrFinkFixes6 жыл бұрын
Engine is original. The clock says 1190 ish hours but the previous owner said it had 750 and left the key on, ended up clocking it up to 1080. Since then I've put over 100 hours on it. Pistons and rings are stock so some day when I tear it down i'll have a good block to hone and go .010 over on the pistons. But i'll run it til it needs it. Its the 96th 318 ever built Serial number 222097. I got it for a sweet deal. I've added the Snowblower and Powerflow with bagger. Amazing how we went from having 45 leaf bags out front down to 15.
@MichaelTJD606 жыл бұрын
Awesome. That tractor has a lot of life left in it. The engine last you a good while before needing a rebuild, just keep the oil in check and keep the cooling fins free of dirt and debris.

For a 40 year old machine the quality is unmatched. That said, If it was the choice between this or say a 1025r I'd take the 1025r all day long. The new home depot John Deere L110 and husqvarna machines are cheap light weight throw away machines. The Transmissions aren't meant to be serviced even though you can do it. I Actually started this madness with a John Deere L110 i picked up for 200$ with 190 hours on it. Bought a snowblower and bagger system for it. Ran it for a season and sold it for $1200. Took that money and Bought this tractor. A 318 in good shape for around $600-$1500 will outlast you if you take care of it. Even a 330/332 or 322 in the 2k range. If your handy and can fix your own equipment it will be well worth the investment. Mine is Vin# 222097 meaning it was the 96th John Deere 318 ever built and it still runs like a champ. If you ever have any questions Feel Free to ask. Or I point you to people that would know.
