The 3300 is purring right along, nice job Pete! Nice to have harvest done, now a little Fall tillage on some acres and turn the cattle out on some stalks.

From the looks of the corn in the ol' 3300's hopper, looks like you've got it setup about right. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🍻 Hope the wildlife left you something for a decent yield. 👍🏻👍🏻 Thanks for the ride along.

when dad was a kid they picked by hand, then he got a gleaner A2 and thought wow we can fill wagons in 3 hours. now with the lexion we can do the 45 acre field in 3 hours on the seperator. i like the 3300! doing a fantastic job. them old combines really did put a great sample in the tank!
@GosselinFarmsEdGosselin4 жыл бұрын
@@jonstevensmaplegrovefarms3754 seems like the older combines did a better job cleaning...overall. I think part of it was because they only could take two rows, or 4... But that was at a slower ground speed.. it was easier to keep the right amount of material in the machine... The new machines are so much higher capacity, that it takes a 35', 40' platform, or an 8 row, 12 row, 16 row corn head to keep them full in a good crop... Lighter crops, you can't keep them full enough... The bigger seperation area is harder to keep an even flow across the whole thing too.. and in lighter crop, there isn't enough material for it to work properly... Just what I see...

We demoed a new corn head and it was embarrassing. I like new stuff someday I would like to have a lot of new stuff. But I guarantee an old John Deere 43 series corn head would have had less field loss than this thing. I didn't even really realize it till I was in my combine and my Capello head was simply bringing in ears and hardly any kernels making it to the ground. That new head brought in so much trash it looked like soybean residue just as big stick material coming out the chopper. I don't think the salesman it's going to be selling that head

How many bushels of beans or corn do you think your Hopper on the 3300 holds? Thanks for the views of your combine shelling corn.😎🌽🇺🇸

I'd guess about 35. I usually don't let it get too full. On my hills around here I like to keep my center of gravity as low as possible.

Glad you got it finished. Is there much of a market in Wisconsin for raising popcorn? Lots of folks around my area have switched because of the price has been up. Your JD doesn't break a sweat with that two row head. Lol.

I honestly don't know about the popcorn market in my area. Yes, from what I understand this combine will handle two row wide or three row narrow.

How have your yields been running? Here in the center of Pennsylvania, where we're running a 5.85" rain fall deficit, we've been seeing between 54 to 97 bushels per acre of "beer can" corn. Everyone here is going to be so happy to see the butt-end of 2020...
@farmerpete4 жыл бұрын
Sounds like you guys had a pretty crappy year! My yields can vary quite a bit. Some of my better ground here at home will make 125 bu, which, for organic corn, I'm satisfied with. My neighbor's place never does as well, the soil there isn't as good.

This is a two row wide - 38”. These will handle a two row wide or three row narrow- 30”. The 3300 won’t handle a four row head.

The 3300 was quite a small one, what'd you think back in its day it was rated at for acreage? At most 175-200 acres?

I’m not sure. I’ve seen some literature from the 70s where JD refers to the 3300 as an “entry level “ combine.
