John Deere 4430 COLD START

Its 12 degrees with negative degree wind chill watch this 4430 chooch to life!

We had a 4230 that was very hard to start if it was below 55°. Don't advance the throttle, spray ether while cranking the engine. Always plug in an engine heater if you can, much easier on the motor.

Those 30 series were always known to have starting problems in general rather it was cold or not. They fixed the issue in the 40 series

My 4430 started perfect at half throttle and always ether inject while cranking the engine. 4440 always starts better with no ether

I heard the 30 series always had an ignition problem with them, and in the 40 series they fixed that issue or whatever. Heard it from a forum

@@E37206 4430 has a 6.6 L/404 diesel and 4440 has a 7.6 L/466 diesel. 7.6 L much better engine.

We need to use ether on our 4440 unless it’s in the shed plugged in

No reason to move the throttle unless your aneroid is out

One thing we do is put it in the highest range like for a 4430 we would put it in D and then sometimes it will start up and give it some eathern and a lot of throttle

Cant understand why Tractors in the US dont have Thermostart . In Europe, Every Tractor has thermostart. My 2030 and my 2450 have thermostart as standard. You can start Them in winter very easy

Most diesels in US have a engine block heater, or even a grid heater for the air intake.

@@danieleibler9727 idk. I’m not sure if those older JD tractors had block heaters on them or not. I’ve never owned one. Also farmers say the old 30 series like the one in this video did not start easy when it got below a certain temp. The 40 and 50 series started easier.
