John Deere 50" Deck Spindle Bearings Removal and Replace 316 317 318 322 etc

How to replace spindle bearings on a 50" John Deere 318 / 322 mower deck. If your John Deere 318 / 322 mower deck makes a grinding noise or the blades or pullies are loose and wobbly, it's time to replace the spindles or the bearings within if they are rebuildable. The deck should be very smooth when you spin it around by hand. The OEM bearings in the John Deere 318 / 322 deck are high quality and heavy duty and should last a long time. You can replace them with lesser quality bearings and they will do the job for a time. To replace the spindle bearings on the 50" John Deere 318 / 322 deck you have to remove the blades, remove the spindles from the deck, remove the pullies, press out the spindle shafts, extract the bearings, and then reverse the process. The video shows you how to do all of this.

Good video, wish i had seen it sooner, missed the snap ring and destroyed whole bearing housing on press . My 1988 316 with Onan 18hp still runs like new. High hours on it and only needed deck bearings and a pto clutch.

Where is the best place to buy PTO clutch,mine is going out on my 318,only can mow about 15 min if I go longer it blows the fuse,these are high dollar the dealer was the highest!

@@randallstewart8487 I don't remember where I got mine.I searched online and paid for a new aftermarket one about 200.00 but that was 2 years ago. Made in USA .
