That combination works real well for you and the tractor copes admirably. The front gangs are very aggressive on that dry soil throwing the soil well wide of the rear gangs!

Great video cotontop. I've always pulled 30 ft disk with 200 hp tractors, which is fun, but I like watching the smaller stuff work too. Something satisfying about watching dirt being turned and equipment being ran. Again, very nice setup and didn't expect you to be able to pull that disk that fast! I hope to be able to have some ground and equipment of my own. Here in arkansas ground is stupidly expensive...

Tim that disk seems to be doing a really good job. Looks like they are mated perfectly but i bet it would pull a 10' with not too much problem but it would not haul as well. It looks like they, the manufacturer, might have the rear gangs too close to the disk center line. We had to slide the whole axle and standards out on our disk towards the outside about six inches per side to get it to level properly in the back. Before we moved them it made a mound in the center and sometimes clogged. It will also cover a little more of what the outside blades on the front gangs are kicking towards the outside. Just a thought by no means am i an expert.

Terry Presnal I agree moving the rear gangs out about 6 inches each side would make it about right I think but then again I never set a disc from a video lol. Wasn't doing bad at all for a new disc. Looks well built.

We had IHC 480 DISCS ON THE FARM A 14 FOOT AND A 19 FOOT THE 14 FOOT COULD BE A LOAD FOR A JD 4020 BUT A 4020 COULD AT TIMES COULD PULL THE 19 FOOT IN OUR GOOD MIXED DIRT

I have a 5075M, your really running too fast, not because your tractor cant pull it but if you keep it up one day your will look back and see cracks in that pretty green frame.

Don't think ever seen a disc harrow being used on tough ground like that before. We use ours to till a field after it has been ploughed to prepare the seed bed. Was the harrowing being done to establish fire breaks? Impressed just how well the little JD pulls it,that hard work!

Why not go with an 8 foot offset vs 7.6 tandem vineyard disk? You’d get more utilization from an offset…. It’s fish tailing because the front gangs are too deep while the rear gangs are scratching the surface

Hi Tim, Nice combo for the small spaces! Watching the disc waging behind you I would set the back gang a little deeper. Just enough that it doesn't make a hump in the middle. That should stop the swaying and pull smoother. Your friend Al

Good work Tim! I just finished my food plots using the same tractor and disc. I also leveled at the end with a Frontier disc-mulcher. That 5075e continues to impress me with it's pulling power for it's size. It pulled my Great Plains, 7ft no-till drill with ease. Let us know what you're planting in those strips?

Hi Tim, i can see ur new disc is doing a real good job! I like the way it works and how it cuts into the ground. In our area we usually don't use disc harrows. That's why I don't have one of my own but a few years ago I could try out a V- shaped one for the three point hitch on a old strawberry field and i was really impressed. I never had a X-shaped one. What kind of bearings are in ur disc? Do u have to grease them?

I noticed that also. Plus it seems to kick some dirt off the sides a bit. Maybe a mold board might help. Or turn the front set outboard disc around. But it looks like a good set of disc for the tractor. Where I ran a disc that size we had to put some weight on top to make it dig deeper and used the tires to control the depth.

I never realized how much a disc drifted, I wonder is there a way to use the transport wheels as a depth gauge, maybe the wheels on the ground would help keep it from drifting? Nice video :)
@cotontop3
@cotontop3 7 жыл бұрын
+jetegtmeier71 u see lots of stuff with a camera that u don't see while ur watching with ur eyes. U can use the wheels as depth gauges and there's pin holes built into the disk to control the depth of u want to use them. I still have a little tweaking to do to get the disc exactly set how I want it to be. Right now on theses passes, I want maximum downforce to cut as deep as I can. We have other stuff that can come behind me and do the finish work.

Can see one modification you made. Looks like you welded on the lift mechanism, welding it solid, so the hydraulic cylinder will actually lift the wheels off the ground, against the depth stop, instead of the wheels "floating" on the ground and the depth stop only coming into affect if the disk happens to go that deep. At least that's what it looks like to me.
@cotontop3
@cotontop3 7 жыл бұрын
+45Deere9500 I did do that, I tacked about an inch at the very top so I could get the wheels off the ground. I'm impressed you noticed that. I can still set the depth and limit that if I need to.
