Great Vid. Tim, I had a fire behind my place about 5 yrs. ago, (neighborhood brat's playing with lighter's in my wood's) And here it's the DNR that put's out forestry fire's,but the man running the dozer was a godsend,he trenched all around that fire to contain it,so the fire dept. could put it out,Saved all my horses and mini-goat's..A memory I'll never forget for sure. Take Care Tim, We know your'e in the blind this morn..lmao Good Luck..

Cynthia Herr it’s the same here. My mother has done exactly that for going on 40 years although now she mostly does school programs, dispatched crews here in Indiana and abroad and helps train new wildland firefighters. Occasionally she’ll do prescribed burns and what not and used to go all over the country on wildfires

Water Bar....I was the only person who knew what that was when the teacher asked us classmates in 1964. That question was on a test the next week and my mind went blank....and I was the only student to answer the question incorrectly, duh.............lol. So much for your father being in the forestry business! ....13

Forestry commision used to run some JD 550C's? IIRC down here,6 way blade with a good sized plow on the back.They always did an awesome job every time there was a roll out for a fire.

The loading ramp at the end of that new road is a duzzy. I'm assuming ya'll plan on bringing the trucks into the ramp on the steep down hill road and circle back around and out the slower up hill grade road?

How’s that blade as far as carrying material ? Looking at a new750 for road building up on the Ogoki Forest. Comes with the standard PAT blade but was wondering how you like the blade you have on

Thanks for the video Tim. Who determines where the roads are placed for you? I think you make your own decks if I remember right. I would think that the roads are very important in relation to where the deck is for efficient skidded time to feed Kevin on the processor. I am a nurse and this is crazy how much I have enjoyed learning about logging b/ c of you.....very interesting and this so much!

I run an 850K and on the dash you can go into the settings and adjust the aggressiveness of the hydraulics and the tracks depending on the work your doing so if your final grading and make a mistake it won't gouge they need to set it to a more aggressive setting for hogging out material just thought I'd let you know to let them know to check that out buddy keep up the great vids
@gabesmith6547 жыл бұрын
I'm in my machine this am the process is hit menu then scroll to machine setting and then you will have options under transmission and hydraulics I couldn't remember the exact process last night

I can see where brushing like that would eliminate erosion. Without water bars the middle of the road would wash out and there would be a gully running down the middle. I'm sure the landowner specifies how far apart to space water bars.

I always thought of a 650 as a big little dozer. They are strong for their size and easy to move. I never understood why Deere made the 700. A 750 with a 6 way blade was the next logical step up in size. Around here almost every logger has a 750 with a 6 way, some have 850’s.

Wish they would take some of the computer controlled systems out of the dozers. The auto leveling etc. are good. Some of the engine stuff only makes it harder and longer to do a job.
