I just purchased a John Deere 757 with 1600 hrs. Anything I should look out for? The motor runs very good. The pulleys are tight too. Maybe a small backfire when returning to idle from high rpm. The drives make a small whine when I go from forward to reverse hard.

Keep the fins clean of debris from around the oil filter as thats a big problem for those mowers causing the engine to overheat and fail. I purchased one with a hole blown through the block and installed a vanguard 23 hp commercial with oil cooler. Big difference from the Kawasaki they come with

@@bassheadalex1628 i just got one with over 3k hours. bad oil leak/consumption. Thinking i may end up replacing the motor...

Make sure to check around the oil filter for any cracks as thats where mines was located with the hole
