Haha, Wes that Brand new part is a Drive Shaft Shield, I work in inspection now and we just got finished making all of those. It was an afterthought safety concern, if that drive shaft breaks it swings around and busts the hydraulic lines, if you loose hydraulics on that tractor going down the road or climbing up or down a hill, you have no steering and no brakes!! We made 80,000 pieces in about 6 months, every 9000 tractor every made had to have that kit installed, wherever they are in the world. It's cool to see one actually installed!!

+Michael Mac Tavish a 9120 is not 170 horse dude what is your obsession with thinking that Kubota is the shit for pulling wes's new baler you do realize he is replacing a tractor that makes 189 at the PTO right? that tractor your saying is 170hp that's its rating at the flywheel it drops like 20hp to the PTO on those kubotas. the Kubota prob could hardly turn the flywheel over on that krone baler. go hop on a lawnmower. price is not everything if you get the cheapest tractor but it doesn't do the work you need it for your further behind than if you bought quality

Only thing I would be concerned about is having the extra U-joints and gearbox that will be associated with the PTO in this tractor. I would question if everything is built heavy enough for constant high HP duty or if it's designed to run light loads for short amounts of time, i.e. a grain cart. IMO, you should be looking for a tractor with a CVT for that baler. The infinitely variable speed adjustment at full engine RPM is ideal for baler work.

Interesting close up of the tractor, thanks. I think the key issues are what is the cost of adding a PTO and what the turning radius is with one set of widened out wheels and of course the actual cost compared to a standard tractor with enough power to drive the baler correctly. It's overall length when coupled to the baler might cause some issues getting into narrow gateways and small fields.

Those dual hubs come off and then you can move the wheels out to the end of the axles. That would be much easier than trying to flip them around. Getting rid of the duals would allow you to turn sharper too. Your 8120 is going to turn circles around this beast though. I think the turning radius is 12 feet

I know a guy fan a john deere 9630 on a case ih lbx332 I think and it worked fine didn't use probably a 1/3 of what the tractor could do. the articulate tractors are way better on turning for pto shafts. obviously less angle to the pto on the implement because center of tractor pivots. I know they had to out a special adapter on to pto, to harness that much hp to the bailer. I would think alot if these tractors would be out their as they need pto to operate the bigger grain carts and with lease returns you could get a very good deal. one thing to look out for is these types of tractors are used often as packing tractors in silage pits and the transmissions are pounded to death shifting. rims can take a beating in silage all the time too... acidic.

For everyone that says "Why Do You Need This Tractor" Or "This Tractor is To Much For A Bailer" I think Wes is thinking of Turning because an articulated tractor is a great turning tractor you all have seen the Tight Turns he does. Yes it is way over the horsepower needed for his bailer but on the other hand the Krone is rated way higher than most other bailers as far as horse power thats is needed. Also if he was to go with a tractor like this if he decided to get anything else for what he does Horse Power would never be an issues. That all being said if the price is right then this tractor may be cheaper in the long run because the way I see it is if he is running his equipment at damn Idle in the long run wear on the Engine, Transmission etc would be less because its not working hard what so ever!! I also think that if noone is running a Bailer on this tractor is because well no one ever tried it before and its about god damn time someone did! Personally I think Wes is thinking about this tractor is all those lights as he is a guy that thinks about the big picture not just the Right Now Picture. His Political Views show that he is a Free Thinker (Thats A Good Thing By The Way). Hell I don't think he cares if its too big if he buys it its because he thinks it is what he needs or wants and it my book thats all he has to justify to me! I think it would be kinda cool to see this in front of the Krone myself!!!
@steinwaymodelb8 жыл бұрын
This tractor will definitely be outside of it's element as a hay tractor. It can work, and they're usually relatively cheap horsepower, but if you do go this route, I expect you will be moving on before the end of the next season. :)

You dont need a 4wd for baleing you just need a bigger front wheel assist! Look for a bigger Deere, Massey, Fendt they will handle that baler just fine, they do make FWD tractors that make 300+hp!!
@jankotze19598 жыл бұрын
Very nice tractor indeed, but I would not go for it for baling only, especially in the small fields and long distances sometimes, you can get that power and more in the shape of your JD 8120. You will miss the turning circle and the Big Pack Krone might just through its ass around because of the weight in these tractors sits at the front, but ya, I am not a pro, only my thinking
@zoebax698 жыл бұрын
I don't see why articulated would be a bad choice. The tires will follow each other on the ends when u turn case u worry bout compaction. Sometimes for a fwa it's cheaper to buy a full articulated. And Wes Why can't you just take the insides off and run the duals on the hubs? Get u as wide as possible and still have stability. They make great planter tractors. And backing them I think is easier in a corner. If you ran a pull pan you would understand. They are awsome. Great buy But my opinion.

+heyhey1956 what about the articulated tractors that are used for pull type choppers?? id say the biggest reason why no one uses artic tractor to bale hay is that balers are only now getting big enough to need the power and weight of these tractors.
@heyhey19568 жыл бұрын
JCB411abuser Sorry to disagree with you about articulated tractors on big balers the reason that 9120 is the wrong tractor for baling is simple it's just too heavy @ 16 tons and its turning circle sucks as well, if Wes is buying the Krone 1290 HDP it weighs just over 10.2 tons in weight according to Krone specifications, all Wes really needs is a tractor of equivalent weight or heavier like a John Deere 8530 which is just over 12 tons and has a 9.0L 6-cyl diesel putting out 330HP and lets not forget that baler has brakes on all 4 wheels HUH?

The articulation is a snap to get used to, turning radius is about the same, being that far from the baler is a pos. and neg. Positive being that far from the cab the dust cloud 3/4 of the time isn't any where near you or the cab and you get a better over all view of everything. The neg. being when the dust is blowing toward you you wont be able to see anything especially at night. In my experience I've found that at night not use the rear cab lights, and put lights where I need them on the equipment I'm pulling and this way I don't get blinded by the dust cloud the cab lights illuminate

When are you going to do other live QnA stream? If you are not to busy plowing snow in the morning you could do one then. Hopefully the blizzard won't knock out the power on you though, and at least I'm not getting over a foot of snow. lol If you can't do one it is not the worst thing ever.

I bet it will be nice on those hills.

Take the duals off and put super singles on, that should give plenty of clearance for windrows. Reversing with a baler in tow is gonna be a bitch though!

Speaking of weird driving experiences. Wes have you ever drove an old Case all wheel/crab steer tractor? I own a Case 2470 and I can say it quite different to operate than a normal tractor and I am not suggesting one for the baler too slow and the transmission would probably suck for baling
