John Deere controller compatibility

Hello would yoy happen to know if JD rate controllers accept input signals trying to mount one to use data collection on a seedhawk air tool thanks

@timwalter1381 what monitor are you using? ... if your using a John deere 4640 or gen 5 display - yes, you can combine it with a MTG (which is internet data recording) ... the rate controller is just a cross over computer - essentially it connects the implement to the display ...

Old video I know but I appreciate your information. I should have seen it before I bought the planter haha. Can a 1770 with grey wedge box and a brown box be updated to seedstar 4? Without a new complete planter harness.

I don’t think so. I was told seedstar 3hp is the highest version you can get not from the factory. Im building a couple custom planters with deere row units for vegetable growers and information on seedtar is scarce.

@@timblack33 information is very scarce. I never found any concrete information so I abandoned trying use seedstar. I went with Graham electric drives and was very pleased overall.

That was a lot to take in, lol, god bless your ability to figure things out because I had to watch this twice:) So if I’m following you correctly, your processor on the planter you have is not compatible with the GreenStar set up for the 8400R and Fendt? I can see why there’s still resistance to tech in the ag sector, you really need to know your shit or all you have is a bunch of expensive wires and boxes you can’t even use

Yes you are correct .. the 4600 (or 4640 universal display) are not compatable with the green controller (pa and pm) on the planter .... so we will either need to change the planter controller over to black one or use a 2630 display ....... and yes your completely right - comparability issues are expensive and a giant pain in the rear ... knowledge is key to success with this stuff .. to bad I had to learn the hard way ..lol

BLACK EARTH EXCAVATION & TRENCHING, LLC that’s really a lot of things to consider, if you upgrade to the black box so it works with your two largest tractors would that devaluate the resale on the planter, I.e. if you sell it would you be able to recoup the money invested?

@@2009deerejohn I believe i can keep the green box too .. should be plug and play .. but we are still researching that part of it .. i'll have more info in todays video
