John Deere Presents The New 3010 & 4010 Row Crop Tractors

This is another interesting installment in the JD series. The front PTO has my interest & I like the interchangeable rear PTO idea. I do thing the fuel tank is in a silly spot & wonder how many people put coolant in it.

We had both a John Deere 730 and a John Deere 4010 growing up. You would have thought the 730 was 20 years older than the 4010 even though they were only 2 years apart.

We had an 730 diesel a 4010 two 4020s the 730 was a good tractor 🚜 until it broke the crankshaft in 1970 I never cared for the 4010 did not have enough power. Loved our 4020s they were great.

My dad's very first tractor was a John Deere 4010 with a yellow cab on it. He traded his high school muscle car for it. 😎 And he still has it. He still uses it. He has 6 other John Deere Tractors, but uses the 4010 to mow and rake hay and grind feed.

When the 4010 came out, I thought it was the best looking thing I ever saw.

I couldn't believe they were that advanced. Those tractors had to have sent the engineers & designers at Harvester into fits. Makes the 40/60 series look dated. Big time! Explains why the 06 series came out as tough & rugged as they were. Then they nailed it with the 56's.

The only thing JD failed to do in my opinion, was incorporate the cross flow of air into and out of the engine. I always thought it just made common sense and horse power.

Growing up in the 1960ies my grandmother had a 3010 i spent many long hours on it we also had a Alice Chomers i think its spelled but it was gas. Then at 7 plus years old it was big cheers today a small tractor

I remember at 7 years old the 8N was a big tractor & the Farmall H had you sitting in the clouds. What model Allis Chalmers?

It looks like they really jumped ahead of IH with the 10 series. Even if it was only for a couple years. Before that, yeah, their tractors were just a little more advanced than an Oil Pull. Took a while for them to get a better planter & combine cylinder on the market, too.

@@ikonseesmrno7300 As a 3010 and 4020 owner, I will go as far to say John Deere waits around for the others to innovate or move the market, then they build to that new market. That has made them successful.

it might have steering without the motor running but it sure as heck don't have no brakes. oh man have I seen some hair-raising moments when one got stalled!!

Agreed, but it really makes syncing the audio to the frames much easier. My project next winter will be to upgrade these with better sound, quieter dings & some color correction. Can't imagine the Deere fans are happy seeing their favorite line of tractors represented in red scale.

I put water in my gas tank in my jd2020 once when I was in a hurry and tired, that wasn’t fun. Caps are old and not colored.

Well, supposedly you can run an engine on water with plasma ignition. Don't know enough about it to try.
