John Deere S790 - How to repair the clean grain and unload system after harvesting down corn.

Here we got a trade in John Deere S790 combine that I inspected. Came up with a list of things to fix, but the clean grain and unload system took a pounding from running in down corn last harvest. Lots of dirt ran through this machine and wore down the augers badly. In this video I will show you how to repair the loading auger, clean grain elevator chain and sprockets, vertical auger, and horizontal unloading augers. Stick around for the next video as it's going to take more than one video to finish this monster. #johndeere #johndeerecombine

This helped me a ton..first time working on a combine they put me on, replacing the top shaft. Unfortunately service advisor didn't really have much info on replacing this. This video helped me a ton. Other than that mine didn't come apart as nicely as this one did 😂. But I still got it done in half a day.

Zeth, loved how you keep it so real. Things like the Mag Parts tray falling and you tripping over show how simple things go wrong even for well skilled techs. We have all been there and some times these things are just a nuisance and other times they have far worse consequences, but every time we learn something from them that make us better! Thanks as always from Scotland.

Thanks for another great video ZK. This one was most interesting b Well, I do not know what to say. This video was a tremendous learning experience. Wow. Just never realized how much you had to take apart and dismantle to do this job. Sorry, I feel pretty uneducated with some of this work up in the grain tank. I have great respect for you and Josh for tackling this job. Wow. The hot weather does not help the situation. Considering all that you working against I feel you are doing great with a difficult repair job. This video was a great educational experience for me and I am sure others. Thanks for filming this and talking us through this situation. I am totally exhausted and I was just watching-ha. My hat is off to both of you doing a very hard job and dealing with the heat. You both take care and be safe. Looking forward to the next video. Thanks for everything ZK and Josh. The Iowa farm boy.

Real good video on repairing augers. We have on our farm rebuilt many augers, on other brands. One thing bothered me was not wearing good protective gloves, and maybe long sleeves when lifting them out. Yes you mentioned the edges are shape. Those augers can slip, rotate and major cuts can happen. Thanks for the information on how a low hour machine can be worn that much.

Viewed 7-18-22 from Fairview Hts, Ill. Yep........dirt in combine is job security. Grain mixed with soil will just eat up anything it comes in contact, this an example of MAJOR WEAR. Must be very careful the auger flighting can become razor sharp and cut you to pieces.....wear good gloves. Again an excellent video :)

I'll have to keep in mind that bearing trick. I've always just unbolted them on both sides then I can usually pound the shaft in enough to either cut the bearing or air hammer it off with a curved chisel bit. Then pull the shaft towards me to remove the spacers and sprocket and I can pull the shaft with the other bearing out as one piece. It works but I'll try that way next (Pretty much every other machine needs it done)

We get 9 hours but no matter how long it takes you get 100% efficiency because usually I've got drive time and it's usually parked in the back of the shed and won't start. I usually get them done in a ten hour day but then it takes me a couple hours to do the estimate.

It seems the combines you work on and recondition are very worn yet not very many hours on them -- should a customer expect "major' or "many" repairs at just 1000, 1200 or 1500 separator hours /// is is just the nature of the beast that they take a lot of maintenance ??? maybe a profile of how the unit (combine or even tractor) was used (abused??) and the number of hours on it just as you start into your white board repair list ????
@ZKMasterTech
@ZKMasterTech 2 жыл бұрын
The combines around here get a lot of bushels ran through them. We have very good yields around here. At a 1,000-1,500 hrs you can expect to do some expensive maintenance. There are also a lot of things, like certain chains that we replace every year and there are certain things we do preventative maintenance on at certain hour ranges.
