John Deere X495 Introduction

Hey all - I'm back with a new tractor. Never thought I'd own an X-Series, so that's kinda cool! I've almost got it all the way sorted - all that's left is a finicky fuel sender and a stuck brake pedal.

Glad to see another video. My dad upgraded to a brand new 595 in ‘05 after he couldn’t find a deck for his 420. Ever since then I knew I had to have one. Last year I bought a x748 and I couldn’t be happier with it. They really are the Cadillac of garden tractors. I know you will like yours just as much, and can’t wait to see some videos of you putting it to work.

Congratulations on the new addition Rory! An X495, or its newer equivalent the X740, have been on my wish list for a long time now. More or less the same machine as the current X750, for a fraction of the price (and built better, IMO). In some ways, an improvement over the previous 455 as well, with the one-piece hood and grill. I'd love to find one of these X series super GT's, especially a diesel, but it probably won't happen until I have a place of my own (with more land than the 1/4 acre I currently rent). I just picked up an ugly 330 to mow with for the next few years - that should be enough to hold me off.

Thanks Michael! I’m curious, how do you feel the X495 is better built than the X750? I’ve been researching with no luck so far trying at least to find the little chassis related differences (engine notwithstanding) between the X495, early model X740, late model X740, and X750.

@@lobsterbox20 I recently sold a used X750 that was traded in at the dealer where I work, and while I didn't have a good chance to run it and mow with it for an extended period of time, I could tell right off the bat that Deere cut a lot of corners in the design of the dash and hood as they were both very chincy. I'm not a big fan of the control layout on the current models versus the older generations, and the hood itself looked like it was about to rattle itself apart. The machine only had 27 hours on it.

Cat 0 implements are not unheard of. Just about every garden tractor that had a three point had a cat 0 setup. I have two myself and have a whole lineup of equipment for them! Just gotta look

I bought a john deere x495 for 3,000 last summer the only thing wrong with it is the fuel gauge would not work I have the new fuel tank and pick up and sender unit im trying to figure out how to splice the old wiring harness to the new sending unit

There is one for sale in Riceville Tennessee 4,500 dollars is that a good deal. The guy said the hour meter is broke so he doesn’t know the hours

Hour meters break all the time on these unfortunately. The best thing you can do is probably check Marketbook.com for X495 and use their high/low/average valuation tool, which will tell you everything you need to know about selling prices. View the complete list of X495s for sale and sort from low to high price to see if the ones in the $4,500 price range match the condition of the one you’re looking at.
