I lived in Centennial for 10 years but have since moved away. This song makes me emotional every time. There is no place like the beautiful Rocky Mountains. Cheers!

Most seem to think he is talking about sitting around a campfire smoking weed in the last verse...it is not what he meant...he, and his friends, were high on the life living in the Colorado mountains can bring. Like all he mentions in the song...Rainin fire (northern lights), cathedral mountains, silver clouds, quiet forests, serenity...a peaceful life..."high" on all that world far from the city, the wars, the human waste shown in every aspect of city life. Check out his song and story "This Old Guitar"...brings a tear to my eyes everytime.

I believe "rainin' fire in the sky" refers to the perseid meteor showers that occur every summer in the intermountain west (Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, etc).

I love Colorado. Its politics suck, but I love it. I drove through I70 in '92 on my way back from Vegas to Indiana. It was my first time seeing Colorado, and I had to pull over because the landscape was so breathtakingly beautiful I couldn't keep my eyes on the road. I vowed to eventually return to Colorado, which I did 10 years later. Every time I hear this song, the purity of spirit that John Denver expressed still comes through.

Nice reaction as usual. My favorite of JD's. The imagery is sublime. "You can talk to God and listen to his casual reply". Perfect lyrics and melody. Also consider reacting to "Fly Away" his duet with Olivia Newton John. It's a beauty.

I was lucky enough to drive through Colorado once, and it was truly beautiful. But, I would say that there are many places that have as much beauty, in its own way. And, as we all know, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. ❤ BTW, I love your reactions, and hope you continue your journey into classic music.

Being retired, if I ever won the lottery, I'd have a home around Denver, Co Springs areas, but it's just too expensive and I cant afford it. But I've been 3 times in the last 5 years and it is just a magical, amazing area. Surrounding Denver, anywhere within 3-4 hours in any direction (except east), is some of the greatest "God's Country" and scenic eye candy you will ever see anywhere. I would always opt for the mountains over the beaches...except in winter (LOL). RMH transports me back to Colorado every time I hear it, and it perfectly illustrates the beauty and wonder of the RM region.

Another great reaction as usual. A terrific song that of course everybody growing up in the 70s can sing along to at any bar. My understanding is that he wrote the song when he was on a camping trip isolated high in the Rocky Mountains. He was on a lake in a canoe by himself And there was a meteor shower, hence fire in the sky. And of course HIGH had to do with elevation, and also, I think the natural high from the beauty and power of nature. Will be sad if you leave the country, but the world is pretty open now and the web has made it a small place. I’ve lived in lots of places been out of the country many times and it’s a great experience and you learn and know more about your home country by doing so. My father on the other hand lived in the same town his whole life and died in a a hospital bed that was within about four blocks of the place where the house he was born in had existed. It’s important to know that the world is bigger than you are. Looking forward to more reactions from the best souls in the reaction business.❤️❤️

Just one comment on the T-shirt. Most albums on vinyl today were recorded on digital tape. I used to have a lot of vinyl, but when I discovered CD's, I never went back. Vinyl in the best condition will still have cracks and pops. I owned the first brand of CD player by the company that invented it, Phillips. The purchase came with 5 straight to digital LIVE recordings, and they all sounded great, but when I purchased CD's from major record labels I noticed they all sounded muffled, like a pillow was over the speakers. They put zero effort into those first CD's. That's because they didn't know what they were doing, so years later they had to re-master just about everything to make it sound good. I remember when I was listening to a Japanese import of a live jazz recording from the 50's, and I could hear glasses tinkling at the bar and audience members having quiet conversations. It's just an illusion guys, you just need somebody who knows how to make music sound great.

I lived in Carmel California and taking my boy to school every morning along PCH 1 was a postcard vista. Between the mountains on the left and the Pacific Ocean on the right (if you’re heading south) was always amazing! Highly recommend the Monterey Bay Aquarium (#1 in US) and Point Lobos State Park where you have the Pacific Ocean is the backdrop.

Tears rolling down for me too. I lived near Denver for about 6 months. Every other week I would go up to the Rocky Mountain National Park at Estes Park. Being "Born Again" is from the Book of John Chapter 3. Jesus said "You must be Born Again". But it doesn't have to be a religious concept. I agree that Denver is a gorgeous place to live. Those mountains are magic in so many ways.
