Okay all the beat boxers in the popular accapella groups are amazing. Kevin from Pentatonix is awesome and Layne from Voiceplay is amazing too, but Adam sounds like a real drumset and it's insane. In the sing off he did a brush snare drum beat and I legitimately thought it was real and I have actually no idea how any human could do that he is so incredible

I was in the Navy in the early 70's stationed in Virginia when "Take Me Home Country Roads" came out. I was part of church sponsored young adult group and when we listened to any music, we usually sang along with them. We were from all over the country, and after a while we started singing this song slightly differently. I was from the Sierra Nevada mountains in California, and I sung it "California, mountain mamma, take me home, mountain roads..." one, of us was from Louisiana, and he sung it "Louisiana, swampy mamma, take me home, swampy roads..." A girl was an Okie and she sung it "Oklahoma, dusty mamma, take me home, dusty roads..." We even had a New Yorker that sung it "New York City, concrete mamma, take me home Brooklyn Roads..." (This last was a nod to Niel Diamond's Brooklyn Roads) There were other's from other parts of the country, but I can't remember exactly how they were worded. We did have fun with this song though.

My mom was born on a 150 year old family homestead in what would be later named West Virginia, then later moved to a small town called Flatwoods. Her uncle had a farm on land that looked just like this. I spent several summer vacations on that beautiful old fashioned farm helping with all the daily chores. We had fresh cows milk right from the cow to make butter that I churned myself, genuine home made scratch biscuits, we got our meat from a nother farmer down the dirt road a piece. We picked our fruit and vegetables fresh from the garden and orchard every day. I collected the eggs every morning and caught a chicken every few days for fried chicken, chicken and dumplings, and roasted chicken. Getting up in the morning at 5 am when the dew is still on the grass and shelling the hay we would mow later in the day after a heavenl breakfast and lunch is a memory that will stay with me toil the day I go home to be with my famil,y working on God's farm.

Always brings a tear. West Virginia, my home. We were living in the north for work and my younger brother died at 36 of a massive heart attack. His request was to be taken home. We spread his ashes on a mountain in the Kanawah forest. My nephew played this on a boom box (John Denver). I could have sworn I heard Terry singing in the echos, of the hollar. RIP little brother, I'll be right along.

My Mom was born on the family homestead in West Virginia and grew up in a little town called Flatwoods. Her family, the Halls, were living in the area later called West Virginia since the mid 1700s. Hall is a very major family name in the state. Her mom's family was rather large- 9 brothers and sisters- and most of them settled down around the small town of Sutton. My distant uncle owned a small country store and stating in the mid 1800s he started having Saturday night hymn sings the sort of morphed over the generations into Bluegrass fests where anybody who played an instrument would just ride their horses in from the farm and sit down around the inside of the store to commence what Hee Haw later called "Pickin an Grinnin". The music was great, the story tellin was great the food was off the charts and the atmosphere was fantastic. Sadly I was a youngin when the last of the generations who kept that tradition alive were starting to pass away but it is still great memory. I got to witness a few of the last get togethers. My uncle Van Hall's house is stil there where we held our family reunions. His old farm was 280 acres of hills. The ONLY level spot on the propertry was the floor of the house. I worked there one summer mowing hay with a horse drawn mower. My cousin and I raked the hay into long piles called wind rows, then we went back with a horsedrawn sleed to load up the hay to take it to the only automated equipment he had, the hay baler. Then we tossed them up into the barn hayloft. At the end of the day, we were exhausted and dusty, but a home cooked dinner of chicken and dumplings all made from scratch with the "donation" of a chicken that was up in the coop squawking that very morning, was a wonderful reward for a hard job, well done. What memories!

@Gizmologist15 жыл бұрын
@@karenwhite2338 AS I grew up, our parents made sure we saw and experienced whar REAL 'living' was and to appreciate Nature and the incredible gift it is and to enjoy even the little things. Imagine how many people have never played in a little crick and caught crawdads or watched fireflies buzzing around and catching a few in a jar. How many have never tasted the sweet, cold water from a hand pumped well, or eaten green beans that you sat in the yard and snapped one by one from a lathe bushel basket, or tasted home churned butter that was in the cow a few hours earlier. Those are some of the best memories I was given as a kid and I will forever be grateful for those gifts from my parents. Our parents and grandparents who lived in that opart of the country and were not a part of a big city experienced a quality of life today;s kids will never know. One where you dont need batteries for all your enetrtainment. I never met a city kid who knew what whistling with a blade of grass sounded like. IMO, there is no better feeling that after a good dinner, laying down dog- tired after a good day's work and realizing that you really accomplished something. Coal mining is a hard and dangerous life but it also benefits millions of people and is an honest respectable job. I never met anyone from that part of the country that shied away from hard work. I know the Lord has blessed your family.

That Home Free Signature Harmony hits me right from the off. The lush bass foundation of Tim Faust and Adam Chance, that underlays Home Free's interpretation of the classic John Denver song, is as solid as the Smokies we see in the video. Austin Brown's high tenor is that bone chilling echo of the people of the high mountains. Adam Rupp lends his brilliance to the heartbeat of the song, while Rob Lundquist and Adam Chance combine their velvety voices with runs that are a throwback reminder of the Blue Ridge voices that are so haunting. This is a New Classic. Home Free does it again. We have come to expect no less. And they never disappoint.

John Denver would be proud of this excellent rendition of one of his most famous signature songs!

My son is 2 months old and won't go to sleep until I play this for him. My husband and I chose this to be his lullaby months before he was born, but he only falls asleep to your rendition. Thank you

I'm sure if John Denver was here, he would be amazed at how good they sang his song.

As an avid John Denver fan, I must say this is the best cover I have ever had the pleasure of listening to! Well done.

Never enjoyed country music B4 except for a few country artists. Blake, Garth, Billy Ray, Oak Ridge Boys. Neil McCoy. Shania Twain. It was by accident 1 1/2 years ago that I came across Home Free while viewing KZbin. Since then I am totally hooked and mesmerized by each member of Home Free. Thanks Tim, Austin, Adam, Chance and Rob for getting me to love country music you guys rock!.
