His mistake was in NOT checking to see if the bear was dead! He easily could have put a round in the bears head to make sure he was dead! That's a lesson you don't get to learn from! 🤔😱😥
@metalmamasue3680Ай бұрын
@michaelmorrison4843 Yes it was a fatal mistake to underestimate the bear. It's sad because in 1906 they relied heavily on what they could hunt and grow. I'm sure we know a lot more about bear behavior today than they did back then. We have so many modern amenities they didn't have then. Including electricity and widely available stores with whatever food you could want.

@metalmamasue3680Ай бұрын
Yes, you should never underestimate a bear's intelligence and cunning. Especially a wounded bear. Still, this was 1906. Much more is known now about bears behavior than they knew back then. It's only recently that studies show just how intelligent bears are. They didn't have Wal-Mart and as many stores with readily available food like they do now and many relied upon game to eat as well as growing their own food. Also I don't believe they had electricity and our modern amenities that make life easier today. As much as you may not like hunting, it is a very popular thing in PA, particularly in rural areas where folks don't have a lot of money. I grew up in a hunting family and I promise you most, (but not all) hunters are very ethical and won't take a shot unless they feel it's a good one. Most hunters do NOT want the animal to suffer. I think we should always try to respect wild animals, I love nature and live in rural PA myself, but also we should always be respectful of the deceased. Have a good day/night and we are always glad to have more friends on the channel. 😊
@metalmamasue3680Ай бұрын
Good story, I didn't know there had been a fatal bear attack in PA. Online it says there's been no fatalities which does seem unrealistic considering how many black bears we have in PA'S woods. 🤔 I hope people did learn that you can never underestimate a bear's ability to survive even shots in vital areas, at least for awhile. I think you should always wait a sufficient time before tracking down or approaching a wounded bear. Even if it's down. They are very smart and better safe than sorry. I'm sorry he made a fatal error in judgement that day. 😔

This question is a bit off topic, but I'm curious what your opinion is on the channel "Grizzly Tales"? It is a channel that supposedly tells stories of bear attacks, but all the stories are completely made up from what i can tell. The channel also sensationalizes bear attacks like the bears in them are evil monsters, with titles such as "This Grizzly Bear Killed 7 People In 3 Minutes on August 25th, 2024" and "Grizzly Bear Kills & Devours Whole Family on July 8th, 2024". I'm curious if you've watched any of their videos, and what your opinion is on channels like theirs that make up bear attacks for click bait?
@994pt4Ай бұрын
Seen a lot of these 'A.I. story channels' as I call them...Bear attacks, untimely deaths, affairs, true crime, etc. It's really annoying to invest the time watching what appears to be an interesting story only to figure out the entire thing is made up but still presented as factual. Hope KZbin cracks down on these jokers one of these days.
@jacobbornowsky4013Ай бұрын
Have you seen the one where the guy narrating verges on soft core porn situations with titles like “ This Grizzly ravaged this helpless couple” but most of the story is this guy talking about the couple undressing and getting ready to have sex….. I think it’s called Chilling tales??

Went to my first national park a few weeks ago-Sequoia. Earlier in the morning before I got there, someone hit a bear cub with a car and it died. Very sad. I also found out via a park ranger they do not allow bear spray.

@waynemcauliffe-fv5yf Idk that I have ever had black bear meat ? Maybe as a kid and I dont remember but black bear is said to be good eating. EspeciaIIy bears who feed on a lot of berries. But it has to be cooked properly to avoid parasites since bears are omnivores and opportunistic and will not pass up even carcasses of dead animals.
