I have an old Frank Thomas mesh jacket. It has removable lining (essential) and a zipped pocket at the rear which contains a waterproof jacket to go over the whole jacket. It’s so good I’m loathe to part with it despite the lack of CE certification. I’ve fitted decent armour myself.

It's okay. Lacks style, and I don't like the neck. You don't need a snap. The liner is brilliant.

why are these so called summer jackets so often black? that defeats the object of being cool to wear. i live in south africa and do a lot of urban riding. in summer when you are moving a mesh jacket is great. when you have to stop for 2 minutes at a traffic light a black jacket heats up so badly that after the second stop you are drenched with sweat. this is from personal experience. so for me this jacket is all but useless

There are options but I think brighter colors are harder to keep clean might be one reason.

You're going to sweat anyway in any kind of jacket, even with all of the breathbiity. Even if you're moving. The color isn't such a factor. In my country it's 30c degrees at 7am so nothing can be as cool as riding a t-shirt. Just gotta accept reality as it is. Furthermore making a black colour will much more of the target audience as black goes with any color being "colorless". In addition to bugs, dirt and sweat being less noticeable in black color than any other.

I agree on dark-coloured mash jackets as even here in the UK when it's hot, you'll quickly heat up while at the lights. I have the Weise Scout mesh jacket in 'stone' colour. Other options are Rev'it Eclipse 2 in silver, and the Merlin Taos Air in 'Ice' colour. All are generally light-coloured mesh jackets, so worth a look if availabe where you are.

​​@@yardenl1998absolutely not the right way to think about it. I live in Texas where for 4 months it's 97-102. There's a massive difference between my black jeans and my sand chinos in transferring heat. Sitting in traffic for 45 minutes minimum is not comfortable
