System Of A Down sounds incredibly "flexible" and athletic in their music, like it can go anywhere, makes for a very engaging and energetic style, and I think John is at the core of that element of the band, you hear Daron and Serj's solo work, and you hear the riffs and the lyrics of SOAD, but they don't have that carefree and athletic quality that SOAD songs have because John isn't there
@BungleGrindClown2 жыл бұрын
The first Scars On Broadway album featured John’s incredible drumming, that album is 1/2 System of a Down

I remember in a guitar magazine that had an interview with Daaron Malakian (the guitarist for System of a Down) that he actually wrote all the drums for this record and just had John play them when they recorded the album. Daaron said he wrote and played all the guitar and bass parts, wrote the lyrics, wrote the drums, and sang just as much or if not even more than Serj for the double album they did. I love System of a Down and the last two albums they did were good, but I still refer to them as the Daaron Malakian band rather than SOAD for this period.
