Thanks man I think I had too much compression going on there 😅 I do think the solo tone is close!

@@MistaMahcos it's like 98% there and we don't have hollywood studios, you're too hard on yourself lol. I listen to the guitar master track all the time and it's incredibly close :)

@@anthonysclafani3963I wish I could find a really good backing track. Most of them use those track removal websites and you can still hear some frequencies that squeeze in the audio.

Very cool in depth analysis. Could you give an idea about a general post EQ setting for DAW?

Don't be so hard on yourself you're probably super tired from setting everything up (even the californication background, which is an excellent touch by the way) and listening to everything over and over again... The tones are amazing, love the guitars! This one deserves to be on the other side (no pun intended) of the book ;D

Thanks man your too kind! I am hard on myself haha though, I’m not disappointed in myself. I’m just not going to claim that I came super close. That would be a false claim. But your probably right I spent hours messing with knobs, levels, and setups. Sometimes you have to take a break and step back from these tones then reevaluate. Which is what I’m doing for this song!

You're doing great! Every video is becoming even more "professional" in terms of angles, moods & cuts, not to mention all the vintage gear and your playing. Would love to see the falcon in other videos, maybe a californication inspired solo improvisation or something, doesn't have to be a full in depth tone recreation ;D

Wow, for some reason I would have never guessed he was using a big hollowbody for this album, but I never looked into it.

I find it hard to believe he didn’t have allot of gear when he rejoined the peppers to record the album. Let alone a rare gretsch like that? Who knows there’s not allot of info online about the production.

I dunno how to explain it but your sound has some metallic tone to it comparing to John's
@MistaMahcos Жыл бұрын
The tunomatic bridge saddles are made out of metal and Johns falcon had a syncrosonic bridge and the saddles are made out of somthing else some sort of hard plastic. That’s why I think it sounds metallic also
