Ned never told Bran or any of his kids what happened at the Tower of Joy, and he definitely never told them that he beat Ser Arthur Dayne. The stories Bran heard is from other people, which is likely them speculating about what happened. The only things Ned has ever said was that he and six of his companions encountered three Kingsguard there, with only him and Howland Reed surviving the battle. Ser Arthur Dayne was the greatest swordsman he’s ever seen. And that if it wasn’t for Howland Reed, he would have died in the fight. Ned had never claimed to have beaten or bested Ser Arthur Dayne in a duel.

I love how multi-layered these episode titles are. Oathbreaker. There are so many options here. - Sam is an oathbreaker for returning to his home when he was exiled to the wall from it, putting love above duty here and in fact even fathering children which goes against his vows completely. - Alliser Thorne and the other guys on the wall having to die for the oath they broke to kill the Wall's Commander. - Lord Umber breaking his oath to the Starks by directly supporting the Boltons and giving Rickon Stark as a gift to the despicable Ramsey. - Vala also an oathbreaker in a way, to her people and the wise Masters etc, choosing the best option that Varys provides, once again choosing love for her son and survival over honour. Technically not oathbreakers since they are not "knights" but Ned and his good friend Howland Reed taking out Sir Arthur Dayne like that, sucks and is literally the opposite of honorable. But it is what it is. Jon Snow breaking his oath to leave is in fact not really an oathbreaker deal. He only promised his life to the night's watch. He did give his life for it, so his oath is fulfilled and he is free to go. He is the only one out of all the options that is really not an oathbreaker. He did his part. And now his watch is ended. Love the themes!
@gbacani0074 ай бұрын
Ned technically killed Arthur Dayne with that last slash of his sword. He never fully disclosed that Howland Reed stabbed him in the back in order to preserve his friend's honor. So he still did the honorable thing.

Jon was resurrected the next night. They offed him at night time, Davos found him that same night. Then the night's watch has the meeting in the morning, and Edd goes to get the wildlings while that's going on. Then at night, the wildlings take castle black and right after that is when Davos asks Melisandre to help Jon. But still, 24 hours of being gone is crazy lol. When Thorys did it to Berric in season 3, it was right away.

Regarding Neds' confrontation with Ser Arthur Dane, I don't think Ned lied per se.
