The first time I saw Jimi Hendrix play was March 2, 1968 at Hunter College. The opening act was John Hammond Jr.! He played a great blues set. While he was playing, his guitar strap broke. Miraculously, a guitar strap came sailing through the air from the middle of the audience. He attached it to his guitar and finished a great set! Then Jimi came out and fried my brain! I was 15 years old, and I've never been the same since!

Fantastic! The photo of Jimi on the cover of Electric Ladyland is from a show at Hunter College, maybe the show you were at!✌

@@mr.goodenough3796 Are you talking about a photo on the inside cover, because the red and yellow blurred photo on the outside is from a show at Saville Theater, shot by Karl Ferris. It's been so long since I've had the album, but I do remember the picture of the group sitting on the Alice in Wonderland statue in Central Park. If the picture you are referring to has Jimi onstage wearing his big, black hat, then it may very well be the Hunter College show I attended! Years later, I got my B.A. there. Ancient History now!

@@katsujinkin60 Maybe I'm mistaken then. I remember his girlfriend from Harlem ,Fayne said that in an interview. That the only concert she attended once Jimi was famous was at Hunter College, and that they used a photo from that show for Electric Ladyland. I just assumed she meant the front Cover. I know Jimi had wanted the photo of him and the Experience surrounded by Kids in Central Park at the Alice in Wonderland statue to be either the front or back cover, but the record company didn't follow his request.

@@mr.goodenough3796 That cover went through a lot of changes. Jimi wanted a photo by Linda Eastman (Paul McCartney's wife), but the record company used a photo of 19 nude women which was quickly changed for American consumption. I actually attended a recording session at the Electric Ladyland studios just about a year after Jimi's death. It definitely carried his signature and spirit! Fayne was a real stick of dynamite, by the way!

I think it would be amazing, if the memories of ordinary people, who saw Hendrix play live in concert, could be collected and kept preserved for posterity somehow, because in the not too distant future, that generation may not be around anymore. They must all be in their 70's or 80's now.

Amazing interview footage, but do you know who owns it? I want to watch the rest of it! Randy California, John Hammond Jr., and Jimi Hendrix jamming out, must've been a sight to see and hear.

this was an out take from the 1973 Documentary on Jimi . Unused , one can readily see that one of John's reasons for getting into singing was to address a stuttering issue. The way Graham Bond addressed his asthma. by taking up alto sax and becoming a noted player .
