When I was 14 my brother took me to Mallory Park. Saw some of the greats, but when the sidecars came out I fell in love. I wanted to be the passenger! Sadly John I can't help now. I'm a pensioner and I'd struggle to hang on for a warm up lap. 😅 Good luck sir. 👍 I heard an old Marshall being asked why he did it. He said; " To see some of the bravest men ( and women) in the world try to achieve greatness. ❤

If i hadn't had surgery yesterday I would definitely be offering to hop on. This man is the best driver you could wish for with a level head, a passion as strong as anyone and the experience to take it to the limit. I'm free next year John!

Well this is something that the TT organisers need to see if they can help with. They are encouraging solo riders to come to the TT, unless the sidecar class has passengers who can step up to the highest level that class is going to stagnate. If it stagnates everyone will lose interest and the chairs are dead. No good having the machines moving on and drivers getting faster if the ballast is saying 'no thanks, it's not for me'. Gutted for John, he's always up for a chat in the paddock and a really top bloke. Surely it can't end this way for him? Come on Plater, leave off the pies and get in that chair 😂

Great podcast once again. Having seen so many interviews and podcasts now I've got to say that, British and Irish bike racing must have the nicest, down to earth, genuine people across any top level sport in the world. Hope he can find a passenger in time.

Excellent Podcast ..well done Chris and Steve ..John Holden has always been one of the most approachable in the paddock so it's good to hear the insights. Lee Johnston would be an interesting passenger (remember Bengt, 'Benga' Johannson with Jock Taylor, similar build to Lee and World 125cc Champion on 2 wheels ?)

Great podcast again! I met John at Oulton Park at a BSB round before the TT last year. Got to say what a really nice guy! Had the time for a good chat in his garage. Are there any plans to have Mark and Dave (starter line guys) on the Podcast? I think it would make another great podcast to hear their views and thoughts on the racing and their roles

We race an ex-john Holden outfit, we were told it was for the 2006 TT and got 3rd but after watching these 2 fab podcasts maybe we were advised wrong. Sounds like he had an LCR in 2006. It was built by Brian Ditchfield we believe.....JH, any info??

With injuries comes litigation. Agreements to limit liability for injury are strongly disfavored by courts. Even well-drafted releases and waivers can be invalidated as contrary to public policy. The Supreme Court rejected the traditional approach in an opinion which should certainly trouble organizers of sport activities. The court concluded that the owner was in a superior bargaining position because the plaintiff had "no meaningful alternative to defendant's take-it-or-leave-it terms” The court relied heavily on the company's duty of reasonable care "to avoid creating risks of harm to its business invitees”. Perversely, this division essentially immunizes the biggest risk-takers from the release of liability contained in the release agreement they are forced to sign. High rates of participation helped the court invalidate the agreement. The release of liability violates public policy. In essence, the court found it inequitable for the company to invite large numbers of people to a hazard it created, and then disclaim any liability for resulting injuries. Lawsuits to come.
