Galbraith was/is an economist for the people, regardless of his remedies, good or bad. so many economists are economists for politicians and corporations. Galbraith swam upstream in a river of leeches and water snakes. the way this Rusher gaslights him is symptomatic of the greater disease inflicting the economy. he shuts down a critical discussion to spare his own sorry pathetic ego-identity. Galbraith is not in a debate here, he is on trial!

He keeps bringing up real estate because the Real Estate companies are what funded the Foundation for Economic Education so they had a lobby against regulation and eventually form a political party that advocates for their interests under the banner of “liberty”

Only at 8:30 does Galbraith finally lose patience and asks Rusher to let him answer... He was far too accomodating.

The format of ten minutes per person seems far too short too. This same episode featured Milton Friedman and William F Buckley (I uploaded those segments too). I would have loved to hear them actually debate each other.

SierraSierraFoxtrot yeah Rusher is the worst kind of televised debate personality, jumping in constantly to score cheap points

That Rusher guy was a pompous asshole throughout. And I tend to agree with the arguments of his side. He only hurts his side of the argument by being a jerk.

Manufacturing Intellect Wow it would have been awesome to watch a debate between those three. A discussion between a first grade conservative, a libertarian and a progressive.

This was 1971. By 1974 there was an acknowledged ''recession".
