This was illuminating. Dr. Kotter helped me understand what makes my storytelling so impactful. I've been using it to "win over hearts and minds." Now, even more so, I will craft my stories, presentations, and speeches with the now-recognizable intent to specifically, yep-- "win over hearts and minds." Thanks Dr. Kotter and Coursera for leading me here. I will tap definitely look into some of Dr. Kotter's other materials.

Beautiful guide Dr. John Kottler. Emotional Intelligence is the first layer of human connections. I learned very early in my life to navigate in emotions. Thank you for your legacy in our modern world, keeping the people to be more emotionally connected, happy, and successful. HEARTS and minds. Antonio

Dr Kotter describes reality. Yes, he doesn't demonstrate passion in this video but he calls for leaders to use passion; to use their Emotional Intelligence to lead change. I know in my heart he is right.

Thank you Dr. Kotter for sharing these invaluable insights. I have always found getting people to feel differently harder than getting them to think differently. In other words, I found touching people's hearts to change their behavior harder than touching their minds to do the same. This is probably due to the fact that feeling is deeply rooted and therefore hard to change. Having said that, I believe change of feeling is more important, both at the personal and professional level. There is no point in making someone think that being honest, for example, is important if that is not reflected in their behavior. Similarly, making employees think that change is important will have no significance if they do not feel the importance of change and reflect those feelings in their attitude and behavior in relation to the change proposal.

It's very important to listen to the thinking, heart and mind, and subsequently the emotions, What attitude one has towards change, This truly contribute to how one responds to change of behavior. I like the video

If a person can effectively change thinking in another and establish the pattern of thinking to lead to an emotional response to the thinking, then they will certainly change their feelings on their own... so to speak. This is a very effective strategy for respectful consideration to another person's right to personal emotions while at the same time a slight manipulation of those emotions when those thoughts become organized. I believe it used to be called persuasion. Just my artistic addition.

Loved the video, thanks. MLM companies do this to perfection at their big presentations (say Herbalife or Nuskin). Lots of emotionally engaging stories, videos etc to support any information. Worth sitting in at one just to have a look-see, for anyone who can't think of how to do the 60/40.
