If you can play rhythms like John Lee Hooker and solo like B.B. King, you'd be the greatest blues player of all time. The swagger and attitude in Hooker's playing is unmatched, and the soul of B.B. King's playing is always beautiful.

It isn't just good music, it's where everything from the Gospel to Country to Rock was born, out of the consummate suffering of African Slavery in the South... You don't simply listen to the Blues, you FEEL the Blues!

hooker learned the song from big joe williams and recorded it in 1949. some 22 years later it appeared on the doors' album, LA woman, where I first heard it, but I'm glad I decided to trace it's origins.

these men lived in the hardest times and lived the music they translated in their music . our weak ass generations will never feel the hard work and unfiltered hardships it takes to put that real emotion into a song the is not bias or racial... it's blisters on a hand and a heart and a soul that creates this music.. we should all be glad to be blessed with these musicians. the music is as graphic as life gets and deeper then we know. God bless them for music and pain they put into it

I'm not sure you understand the "hardness" of times if you think the 70s are harder than today. In ways today is harder. Maybe people aren't drafted for Vietnam but they are targeted every day and things are more unaffordable than in the 70s. They didn't deal with millions flooding accross the border competing for resources.

And speak for yourself instead of insulting entire generations of people your retarded ass doesn't know fuck all about. Your TV, media doesn't portray the character of anything or anyone honestly.

Imagine these guys were producing music now. With the internet as it is, I wonder if they’d still achieve “legend” or if it was all in the geography.

Probably one of the best concerts ever recorded was John Lee Hooker with the coast to coast blues band with sugar blue in 1985... just incredible what a band i.. it was a blues and Bud show from wxrt on a Monday night from 1985 I recorded it off the radio and then had some CDs made... I believe me and xrt are the only people that have it.....
