I still can't believe he left the earth that way, it still infuriates me, and I will always miss him. It's like Elton John sang..."It's funny how one insect can damage so much grain". Sadly, for all of us, there have always been too many of those "insects" walking the earth, including today.

I was in Vancouver Canada at the time and in the middle of a phone call with my Son's to be, father when the news hit the bar TV's. He was playing with his band, Stand and Deliver, up in a Bar in Smithers B.C. and were about to start playing when the new swept across the bar. People were crying and in utter disbelief I remember hanging up the phone. It felt like at the end of Beatles song "A day in the Life" sounds, with all the instruments reaching a pinnacle and the colliding in my head and my mind faded to dark as I fell to the floor like a calliope crashing to the ground and I Burst into tears on the kitchen floor! I wanted to go out, to downtown at the Square where people were gathering. But it was late and time for my daughter to head for bed! So I switched on the radio to listen to the DJ fight back tears as he played Beatles songs all night. I don't think anyone really believe anyone would or COULD SHOOT JOHN LENNON!? He was the embodiment of PEACE AND LOVE! IT'S on my bucket list to make it to the Strawberry Fields park on this December 8th anniversary to honour and celebrate a man and band who truly touched my generation and clearly has continued to touch many more generations that have followed mine! Bless your heart and Soul for making and sharing this memorable day on video! 43 years ago still feels like yesterday!😢 12.08.23 🕊💞💫🕯🍓🎶🙏🏻

What a terrible loss! How we miss John every day. I went years ago on this sad day so I could pay my respects. It was the year Yoko showed up. I did have a special connection with her. Took many photos of Imagine. One photo is in the Smithsonian another in a book. Thank You! Everyone for keeping positive memories alive!

I was in the city that night. When you were born in New York City and we refer to the city, it only means one city and that's New York on December 8th 1980, it was a Monday. They were lighting the tree at Rockefeller Center. My husband and I were there with our little boy who was not quite 3 years old. My son was sitting on my husband's shoulders as they let the tree. Shortly afterwards we heard police cars. My husband asked an NYPD officer what was going on. He told us that John Lennon had been shot. I remember wishing there was something I could do. It was an exceptionally sad day in New York City

Was in New York when horrific news broke while walking back to the Roosevelt Hotel .Saw Bowie in the Elephant Man that night. Hung around the theater with my cousin in the hopes to get Bowies autograph. No luck but one hell of a performance. Back at the hotel the news broke. Riding back to Boston via Amtrak in shock. Hopefully Bowie and Lennon are together watching over us.❤

I was only 15 when John Lennon was assassinated in December 1980, & I was only 36 when George Harrison passed away from Lung Cancer in November 2001. Now, the only remaining members of the Beatles still alive are James Paul MacCartney, vocals, piano & guitar, Pete Best who was replaced by drummer Richard Starkey aka Ringo Starr

I did not always agree with John but, I still have and enjoy his music. I always enjoyed and miss his quirkiness. True musician and still a true tragedy.
