Thanks for going page by page thru the book... This album is the greatest of all the solo albums made by each band member. I've been eyeballing this, not sure what I want to do. I'm an LP person more than CD, but the book sure is enticing. Very nice unboxing. Beautiful gesture by Yoko.

What an honor! Yoko is a good, decent person, although to many she came across as too avant garde. Congratulations! I'm sure you'll always remember this event prominently. And we can all vicariously share your adventure! My favorite Lennon album.

Now, that's an artefact that belongs on the eye-level shelf! While you're absolutely right about the importance of understanding the context in which music was made (I'd go so far as to claim you can't truly understand the music without evaluating the context) I'm sure you, as the top literature boffin you are, also appreciate the role of the unreliable narrator and the fascinating role that both Ono and McCartney have played in trying to position themselves in the Beatles narrative post-1980. One can't help but think this is a handy shot across the bows of Macca as his "Get Back" puff piece nears completion as the two biggest surviving dogs in the fight look to sort out the demarcation lines between their turf. But I'm probably wrong.

John made his choice very obvious with his loyalty to her. If you listen to the album he even says "I don't believe in Beatles I just believe in me, Yoko and me and that's reality".

@@AnnaLVajda Gee. I should have thought to listen to the record before I commented. Lucky I have you to remind me of these things. Newsflash - he's been dead for 40 years and Yoko and Paul have been jostling over their respective places in the legacy ever since. The fact that YO is shoehorning her music in on a release purportedly celebrating Lennon's greatest triumph could be taken as a sign that she is looking to a) compete with what is shaping up as a Paul driven PR fest with the "Get Back" movie b) represent herself as as valid and important a musician as her assistant/husband c) leverage modern revisionist sentiments to show her as emerging from the historical weight of patriarchal oppression and accomplish b) independent of any Lennon legacy. She'll lose, because her music is tosh, but Lord love her for trying.

@@shanewright2772 The Yoko/Plastic Ono Band jams are a fascinating part of this release, and certainly worth documenting as part of the Plastic Ono project, as they were recorded with the same musicians during the same sessions. Clearly, it is not for everyone. There are those for whom this material will hold great interest and those who resent the idea of paying for it, but I'll say this much: 1) It would be ludicrous to present a retrospective whitewashing Yoko Ono from the Plastic Ono Band sessions and 2) Anyone interested in the Beatles' ranges as musicians should hear, at least once, John's guitar and Ringo's drums for the Yoko jams. The fact that this material is presented only the blu-ray disc, and not any of the 6 CDs, suggests this is a "bonus feature" for those of us who are actually interested and is a tacit acknowledgement that the material will appeal mainly to a relatively small subsection of hardcore eccentrics.

Lovely gesture from Yoko & Sean first off Barry & that card is a keeper for life..... Some amount of tracks on this POB box set which for me is my third favorite Lennon album after my number one 'Walls & Bridges' & two 'Imagine'. I would love the Lennon estate to do a similar thing with Walls & Bridges as for it being such a brilliant album i feel sometimes it gets overlooked!

Hi Barry. Have you read the book "The Last Days of John Lennon" by James Patterson with Casey Sherman and Dave Wedge? It is a whole lot more than just John's last days. There is a wealth of information in here. From his beginnings, with the Beatles, to the tragic end. I recommend it highly.
