The thing about John Lydon is that yeah, he can be caustic at times, but the real man is an incredibly good person. He cares deeply about everyone and wants to reach the people he thinks matters, not media people, not rock stars, just everyday people. He is extremely intelligent, compassionate and does not suffer stupidity well at all.

I like his "warts and all" approach and his sense of priority - his life is his art and he has respect for art - what it represents and how he always try to connect with his own truth. He's paid his dues and he's still fighting the good fight and his thoughts and opinions remain valid, interesting and, most importantly, provocative and inspired - a good guy!

John's absolutely fascinating to watch as well as listen to. Can't say I understand Punk but as he explains himself ( in other interviews) you can clearly get what he says. Agree with him or not he's certainly extremely intelligent, extremely funny/witty and deserves all the credit for who he is. Whenever I watch something on the Sex Pistols I'm reminded so much of the movie " Spinal Tap" . I think with PIL he came into his own and is brilliant as a musician/ singer/ writer where Sex Pistols were basically shock value. As defensive as he can sometimes be the biggest kudos is his relationship with his dear and beautiful wife Nora and what they are sadly going through. He can be completely brutal but when you see him with Nora or hear him talk about her his shield is completely down and you see a guy who is utterly, completely in love like a smitten teenager. Their love affair is a beautiful story in itself and can't imagine the pain John must be going through.. She's lucky to have found him as much as he's certainly fortunate to have her in his life.

Love the guy and his work but drop all the "honest guy" bs. His first book was a 40% act of revisionism. His recent book was a 60% act of revisionism. He contradicts himself every time he opens his trap and tells numerous versions of the same story. Can't argue with the music though. Metal Box, Album, That What is Not, Psycho's Path - masterpieces! And the most recent PIL album is the best yet.
