Someone asked him in an interview, how did he lose his accent and he said he did it on purpose. When he moved over here the the US, during the plays he did, he had to sound like an american so after so many years he lost it. If you really listen close, you can hear a little bit of it still.

I always think the same about Portia De Rossi. I guess your natural accent changes after years abroad. On another note, he still has quite an English accent if you listen carefully, he just pronounces his "r"s very american like
