This is the John I wish I had been able to see. Small venue (compared to an arena) No standard setlist Playing what he wants to play

Yessssss. I grew up thinking of him as all the girls biggest crush of their life playing his hit pop songs. But I wish I had realized this was who he truly was.
@skylinelife53962 жыл бұрын
He has been quoted before saying that his shows are basically playing the songs that he wants. He of course tries to play his new songs and such but he plays the songs that are fun to him

This is... Incredible... He took SRV's version, added Jimi's lyrics, and threw his Mayer flair on this track.

Yeah and it all comes back to who you knew growing up. SRV was his version of Jimi and John Mayer is a fusion of both plus his own. Thats how music works. there are a lot of modern sounds in that rendition.

Man I feel like I missed so much of John Mayer when I was growing up. I just knew him as a pop star that all the girls loved when I was in high school 15+ years ago. But this… this right here is the true John Mayer playing the music he loves the most. Taking what I think is the perfect song ever (Jimi and SRVs) and making his own amazingly perfect version of it.

It's amazing that Jimi basically made that Monterey Strat to just smash it and throw it away and it became one of the most iconic Strats of all time. When Fender done a Custom Shop version of it I think John Mayer and Kenny Wayne Shepherd were two of just a VERY few people that were able to get one. It's almost 30 grand now if you can find one!

@antoineaquino30553 жыл бұрын
@@f.i.l.d.e.p.s i wouldn't call it reusing, because they didn't copy it fully, so i'd call it taking inspiration and they did a great job, because if jimi did a long version of this on live he would've used some feedback technique and would be the most unique and probably the best version if ever. and we should stop discrediting artists who did a nice job because someone did it first.
