My thoughts on John Mayer’s sound exploration: He is a “Clapton certified-Master” guitar player. To be a master of anything, you have to have 100% control over whatever thing it is you master. John has preached about the blues.. if you don’t think 60 year-old JM isn’t playing the blues with Steve Jordan and PP, you’re wrong. I think he’s worked for this window of his life, his whole life. We have a relationship with his music, but we can’t understand his relationship with a guitar. There’s levels to this shit. John, can do anything he wishes with a guitar, and I think he has earned every right to show that. Enjoy the genius, and his ambition to make the tracks we never thought we’d hear. Whatever John you love, I’m sure you’ll see again. Freedom is something every human being desires; let him fly
