Obviously Mellencamp's biggest talent is his songwriting. So underappreciated and overlooked. Did he write mind blowing albums full? Ehh.. not really. Should he be held in the same esteem as Springsteen, Petty, and others? Absolutely. His catalog is surprisingly diverse. Mostly traditional Americana type music, but so well written and executed. His lyrics are inspiring and nostalgic with the ability to hit home. The guitar playing is mostly to supplement and support but its perfect for it's purpose. Fun to play, not extremely difficult and instantly recognizable. Had trouble learning some of stuff by ear until I realized how often he incorporates the capo and alternate tunings. The man knew what he was doing and what he wanted. Carl choosing to showcase his songs is a testament to how timeless they are. I won't say I jump at every song picked but I definitely appreciate Carls wide taste and knowledge. The gift he gives with this channel shouldn't be ignored. He's providing not only some great technical lessons but he's also exposing people to some stuff they might not normally learn but can ALL benefit from. Thank you Carl.

One of my favorite riffs and songs to Jam I've always loved this song man " Carl your Playing it just abit different from me bc we're still playing the same notes , that's what's good about guitar you can play the same notes sometimes on different frets yet still get the same chords " Jam on Brother ..... Rock on to the Melloncamp !!!

Im trying to figure out how to post a KZbin guitar cover without getting copyrighted. Does anyone know if people that do lessons and covers like Carl get copyright claims?
@GuitarLessons365SongLessons2 жыл бұрын
Yes almost all of my videos have copyright claims… it isn’t a big deal, just means the artist claims some or all of the ad revenue but doesn’t negatively affect your account, just the $ you make from the video… copyright strikes are a different story and those badly damage your account… those a very rare and only come from artists that don’t want anyone using their music on YT, like the Eagles
