I think John Miles and Joe longthorne are two of Britain's greatest and so under rated .

John miles was a great musician and will be sadly miss this song should have been the winner in the eurovision 1990 and his music will be remembered forever

I watched this when I was 20 and it made an impact on me then and it does now. I have no doubt that had this won a Song for Europe, it would have gone on to win the competition outright, such is the power and anthemic majesty of this performance by John Miles. Such an extraordinary vocal talent. I never understood how a schmaltzy children's song was seen as a better choice over the class of John Miles. Huge missed opportunity for the UK to bring home its sixth win.

Voted for this way back then when the "nonsense shit reality" was all the rage. Am proud to put myself forward as "One who knew what he was talking about - and belong" despite the negativity.

This song would have won the eurovision song contest in the 1990

Once again the great British public votes the best song into second place. This should have been the UK entry without a shadow of a doubt. John could have been a possible Eurovision winner!

I agree. ESC 1990 was a decent year, but with a very dubious winner. If we had sent this then we would have gone very close.

So much better than the awful winner! Professional and sophisticated. Strong ballad by a well known singer

OMG - just discovered! And so much better than the UK entry 1990 for the ESC. My guess 2nd place in the contest

This would have been a much better entry - I reckon this could have actually won the whole thing. It's very of the time in Eurovision at the time.

This would have competed with Ireland, another piano ballad that year. Emma was great, she came sixth, but this would have done better. But probably not won.

Not very intelligent to prefer Emma to this jewel. This may have won the whole thing. Greetings from the Netherlands

Considering how lousy Give a Little Love Back to the World was, it's even more regrettable that the UK lost the chance to have the great John Miles - still a wonderful active musician today - be their representative. This should've been the song taking sixth. How GALLBTTW scored as well as it did is beyond me.

Wonderful but sadly no longer active. He passed away in December 2021, aged 71. R.I.P. John Miles. Your Music always fondly remembered.

After all these years I need to alleviate my soul of the burden it has carried by confessing I voted for Emma. May the ancient spirits of Eurovision forgive me.

You are not alone. Emma's song had more instant impact but this one had more staying power. If music wasn't your first love at the time you probably wanted to give a bit back to the world !

way to good for that ridiculous clown of an event. why is it still going??
@steinarmogen31664 жыл бұрын
Because it's a great contest!

Because there are MANY of us who actually DO love Eurovision. A Worldwide audience of circa or OVER 300 MILLION can't al be wrong!

This is really very dull and old fashioned , even for 1990. No.
