Here's a winter cold start up video with a few things that I like to do before and during winter storage. It is a nice warm day here in Arkansas. Time for a little fun! Please keep watching and commenting. Thanks so much. Nick

Thank y'all so much for watching and commenting! I love it. Please ask anything about this car you want. Please don't anyone think that I have this kind of talent. So many people have helped me build this beautiful car. So much credit belongs to the original owner who completed approximately 80% of the car before I purchased her. Thank you! Nick

So did you build it or have it built? Wouldn't it be nice to go back in time with your hot-rod and cruise?! In the 90’s we had a spot called the square but as usual the cops shut it down😂

WOW, John Milners '32 5 window, that is my DREAM car, I grew up in So Calif, graduated 1967 and American Graffiti was so spot on for that place and time. Thanks for sharing.If you ever need a place to park it I will volunteer my garage! My best friend (passed a few years back) could have been Milners brother, Jim was almost the spitting image of "John" and Jim was a gear head too.

When I think of a "hot rod" your car is what pops into my mind. Really nice job and the license plate is just the right touch. Saw American Graffiti, the first time, as a 12 year old at the Valley High drive inn in 1973.

@@cureforsale ... I don't know if you have a separate switched circuit for your fuel pump, but you should be able to cut off the fuel feed before you shut down the engine, allowing it to burn the fuel out of the carbs, rather than the potential of raw fuel draining into the intake side. Something is getting the fuel out of the supply hoses, that's visible.
@MaxConrad-qo4tu10 ай бұрын
That's because each Superfortress had an auxiliary power unit for each engine to oil up and start the engine. Automatic systems are always simpler. Duh.

Great car..one of my faves. Jay signed a 32 for me at the Petaluma show..Candy didn't have a 58 Impala to sign...but I got an invitation to be her escort at the event dinner..I had just met my present wife..thought that nots going to work. That was 25 years ago . We used to cruise 4th street in Santa Rosa back in the sixties. My 56 Chev 150 utility sedan was in Peggy Sue Got Married..filmed in Petaluma and at Santa Rosa High..lots of fond memories. My only car left is the 56...here in Las Vegas. Thanks for showing us your car!

Why on earth don't you spray a little ether into each carbie, or a little squirt of fuel, or just a few fingers over each carbie for a dummy choke to make an instant start? There's no reason a well built and tuned motor can't start after just a few revolutions with a nice rich mixture.
@cureforsale2 жыл бұрын
That is an idea. I've thought about keeping a bit of gas in a small squirt bottle to fill the bowls. The video shows the standard way that I was taught to start the car. I usually like to give it a few revolutions without fuel to get the oil pressure up if the car has not been started in a few weeks. I think that was the delay you probably noticed. Thanks for watching and commenting. Nick
@ckane5102 жыл бұрын
Always good to build oil pressure first anyway. Ether is really a no no for gas engines. Builds tremendous cylinder pressure. What he is doing for starting is really good practice. Especially on an older engine.

@@ckane510 That's the procedure I have always been taught. Thanks for your input! Nick

WTH are you jabbering about. I've been building hot rods since the mid sixty's and never went through this much crap to start a car. The only thing out of the ordinary are the carbs and running the fuel pump a little more would fill the bowls. Looks like no chokes but your in CA for crying out loud. I've started these things in the cold northern midwest without that much fanfare. Your just jabber to hear yourself.
@TS-ef2gv10 ай бұрын
Yep. I ran an ill tempered, full cam rat motor year round for several years in the Midwest back in the '70s and never did any of this. The most I did for a really cold start (sitting all night in a bitter cold Midwestern mid-winter) was pop the hood and take the air cleaner off the 780 DP so I could watch the carb through the bottom of the windshield while I cranked it. On starts after a good cold soak it tended to be even more evil than normal and would sometimes pop and set the gas in the carb on fire. I needed to see that so I'd know to keep cranking it and suck the fire back into the carb, or if that failed, jump out, put out the flames, get back in and and try it again. After about the second or third fire it would usually start. 😄
