Todd Snyder telling the story of playing rhythm guitar on "Don't it Make You Wanna Dance?" with a guy named KK Ryder is my favorite. Strictly a song would be "Beer Run".

Enough, from Step Right Up, is my favorite Todd song. Honorable mention to Beer Run, because that was my introduction to Todd, hearing him on The Bob and Tom show.

Damn, I love Todd Snider so much it's hard to pick just one, Statistician Blues, Conservative Christian, The Ballad of the Devil's Backbone Tavern and the story of the ballad. Saw him open for John Prine and it was a magical night. But, I was a scoutmaster for many years and I taught my troop Beer Run, it became their trail song and they would sing it at the top of their lungs on the AT and caused quite a stir at Philmont Scout Ranch in 2006. So Beer Run.

I'm incapable of ranking things, and Todd has SO many great songs, but I'll go with "Just Like Old Times," especially the studio take where he just nails the perfect tone. "No sir, officer, you don't understand - we're just two old friends drinking wine/I'm sure she is, but that's not all she is/She is also an old friend of mine." I was looking for Todd Snider podcasts (or maybe it was the Mojo Nixon ep) when I stumbled across Thanks for Giving a Damn many years ago. OMG are those two funny! Thanks for all the great work, Otis.

Been hooked on Snider songs since that first record, I’m thinking Eddy Shaver played on it…pretty much every Snider song will bring a smile and a giggle. Not sure if it’s my favorite, but the classic grifter song “Easy Money” certainly captured my imagination. “Talkin’ Seattle Grunge Rock Blues” still cracks me up…still giggling

I don’t think Todd Snyder has a bad song but Sing A Train Song hits me hard. Reminds me of a good friend that passed a few years back from living a little to much. The highlight of this one was the simple mention of Fred Eaglesmith though, there has to be some good stories floating around about him. I can listen to Trucker Speed on a loop for hours, makes me think of the same buddy.

Picking a favorite Todd song is a fool's errand, but I'm game. For whatever reason, Greencastle Blues is brilliant to my ear; omg that chorus melody! The Devil you Know always gets me going. You know how Sturgill Simpson had that iconic SNL moment with "Call to Arms"? In a parallel universe Todd could have had a moment like that with TDYK. Play a Train Song. Too Soon to Tell. There is my top 4 for today. Tomorrow it may be different, but Greencastle Blues will still top my list. I think.
