Such wonderful song. Brings tears to my eyes damn-near every time I listen to it. John Roderick is one of my favorite people - such a thoughtful and fascinating guy. For real, if you don't listen to the Roderick on the Line podcast you're missing out.

This song punches me right in the gut no matter how many times, or how many versions I hear of it. Roderick is the man.

I remember listening to the Song Exploder episode of this while in the supermarket. I was standing in the aisle with the condiments and cried my goddamn eyes out. What a song, y'all. If a soul can have a gut, this song punches that soul right in that gut. What. A. Song.

OK so I've listened to this about 47 times tonight. Add that to all the other times I've listened to it makes about 12 million and 6. Just lovely.

I have always been obsessed with the Columbia Shuttle disaster since I saw it happen live on TV as kid. This song is supposedly about that mission and the astronauts on board. It is the perfect song in every way. If you don't get teary-eyed listening to this song you are dead inside.

this has been one of my favorite songs since finding it, which was quite a while ago. The passion in his voice, with just enough soul, truly moves the spirit. It's just hollow enough to fill in a very interesting character behind the voice for each listener. The chords are simple, but majestic. The lyrics, also simple, yet profound. It reminds us of a space very few of us actually have experienced, but everyone knows. A space of unwanted, yet blissful loneliness? Is that just philosophical BS?

Face of Frequency, I like the use of the word space in your comment 6 years ago. I would guess you write, I think if you have music taste like this you’re probably gifted if you can word play a nice comment with the semantics or whatever. I don’t know what I’m talking about but I want to be your friend
