I drove a Auto car for a while when I went to work for someone other than my Dad. We built a few logging roads back then.

An AutoCar is one tough truck for Extreme conditions. We used them a lot in the Oilfield. They were some of the Best Winch Trucks for Heavy Pulling.

@@brucewinningham4959 I've seen a lot of Kenworth T-800. They make nice winch trucks too. I drove a B model Mack winch truck with a triplex in it. A ton of R model Macks as well running water and suck trucks as well in West Texas and Eastern New Mexico back in my younger days.

We would get those shift handles off old bulldozers used for parts in the early 70s when working for a logging company. They’d fit right on the Mack’s. Only difference is they were black, would have loved to have had metal flake ones.

I started out shifting 5 &3s while driving a Crane Carrier (C.C.C.). I LOVED driving Crane Carriers since it was a New Adventure for me at the time. Most Truck Drivers seemed to hate driving them. I guess they are too slow for them on the Highway. The Crane Carriers later started using 13-Speed Roadrangers (the off-road version).

I grew up in a Mack with a 5 over 3 it was an old grain truck that we worked in the field and then I would take it to the silos the old man that I was working with had a 5 / 4 with the high low rear ends so I can't even imagine how many years that actually was in theory I guess it was about 40 but he said the truck would not do over 66 mi an hour and that was as fast as it would go if it was in low on the rear + 1 + 1 I don't think it even did 1 mph that thing was a crawler but the truck in this video is absolutely magnificent you do not see trucks like that anymore much less than an autocar
