@@BDelane1983 I take it you didn't see4 Gazdic fight? I've seen Bieksa fight plenty - he was good but he wasn't in the NHL as an enforcer, Gazdic was, that was his job. They wouldn't fight though as KB vs LG would of been a massive win for the Oilers (you realize Luke played about 8 minutes a night - so a 5 minute rest in the PB wouldn't affect the oilers at all - vs the Ducks or Canucks losing KB for those 5 minutes)

@@thedingbatdingers4326 What's your point? Again, Luke was in the NHL for one reason and one reason only - TO FIGHT. KB was in the NHL because he was a good dman who could fight. LG would clean his clock Maybe youtube the fight LG had with Lucic then get back to me on how KB would do

I think you’re exactly wrong, Matt. Yes, Rogers pays the Canucks and the NHL a ton of money, but they pay those dollars to acquire the rights to broadcast those games, and the league and those teams own those rights. If the league and its owners don’t like the job the broadcaster is doing, they have the ability to sell those rights to someone else once the contract expires. And if I were the Canucks, I would absolutely be calling Rogers to tell them that if their on air personalities don’t start acting in a more professional manner, we will looking for someone else to broadcast our games asap. And as for the naming rights to our arena…

Chris, Craig, Ron... a lot of Edmonton talent on HNIC. And we could mention the recently lost Dutch, the man I still consider the best T.V. sportscaster Edmonton ever had - and we had several great ones - and Jay, both of whom worked for that other sports network. Although Jay didn't go through Edmonton I'm thoroughly familiar with his childhood stomping grounds as I grew up in the same county he did and played basketball and volleyball against the same school he went to. A country music aside, that's also where Brett Kissel grew up. Being a senior, I never was an Oilers fan as a child as the team didn't yet exist. But everyone in that part of Alberta were Edmonton Eskimos and Oil Kings fans. And so Jay Onrait also was an Edmonton teams fan. A lot of Edmonton influence in the current national hockey media landscape. So, while Luke isn't a native born Edmontonian he seems to almost consider himself an honourary Edmontonian and is still an Oilers fan. So maybe some of the essence of all those great Edmonton sports broadcasters will rub off on Luke and he will find his way to becoming a great analyst as well. Edmonton still seems to love the guy.

Luke Gadzic is sooooo beyond irrelevant who cares what that dude thinks. Those lovely ladies that clear the ice mid period saw more ice time per night than that goofy muppet did during his career. This fanbase is legit! We might be a little fucked up but we earned it! & like in life.. when you mouth of the crazy person they come at you! Gadzic is finding that out the hard way..

Luke just made the rookie mistake that a few unhinged Twitter keyboard warriors don't represent all of the Vancouver fan base. Luke just has to apologize on this point, get some thicker skin and he'll be fine.

If he doesn't apologize to the non represented people/organizations he undeservedly included in his rant, as instigated by the trolls, he will likely lose his job; his choice. The trolls will never stop, responding to them is exactly what they want! Do not pander or care about their opinion; the only way forward is to ignore them; your life will be far better for it ;)

I’m a nucks fan. I still don’t mind gadzic. Hes been a pretty good analyst. I don’t care that he hates the Canucks or whatever. Hes just human. We gotta get away from vilifying people just for saying words.

However, most employers do mind if they have hired you to represent them, and you're publicly saying things they wouldn't approve of. People may watch a different channel if they believe the analysts hate them as fans, and want the fans' team to lose.

Wait, Luke Gadzic response to being accused of being biased to the Oilers was to go onto a Oilers fan podcast with his Oilers jersey hanging behind him and say that the Canucks team are losers and then says ‘we’ dusted the Canucks. Also added that the Canucks are a joke. That was his response to being accused of being biased. If I said what is the most idiotic way to respond to trolling I don’t think you could make up anything more idiotic than how Luke responded. There is no way HNIC or Sportsnet can keep him on with out losing credibility.

the major issue isn't that he took issue with Twitter and the fan base, but he called the organization and franchise "a joke" - which is not the job of a national telecaster

An NHL franchise can be worth many hundreds of millions, to billions of dollars in some cases. It's a brand, a business and a big one at that. Slagging a team is slagging a franchise and therefore the league that it represents. Fans can say whatever they want but broadcasters cannot. The broadcaster is there professionally, getting paid so the standards are different. Luke made a serious mistake there. If he had made the same comments about the Leafs, he would have been fired the next day. His comments were beyond unprofessional. Actually what he did was to attack the value of a business. Nothing personal towards him but he needs to be axed. The on-air commentators cannot be insulting a franchise and fan base, no matter which one. At the end of the day, it's a business and a lot of money is at stake.

Why does Sportsnet put Cuthbert and Simpson on announcing the playoffs. Edmonton fans were quite happy with Jack and Louie but they found the need to bring the entire Toronto staff to do the games. They even cancelled Gene Princepe.

Munger cautioned against having an opinion unless you are fully educated on all sides of the issue, which is a specific application of the concept of inversion. I think only when I reach that stage am I qualified to speak.” The underlying concept is that it takes work to have an informed opinion, and ideological thinking is lazy thinking. Instead of looking for facts that support your ideological leanings, having a valid opinion involves the often painful task of researching facts that support the other side.

I would be pissed off to its 2 series old and hes still getting hateful messages from toxic people just leave him alone its not like he was on the broadcast advocating for the loss of vancouver I thought he did a good job breaking down plays, however that was pretty bold what he said probably not the best play but that stuff gets to you its his rookie debut in the big media job he was just trying to do his best. However if your a vancouver fan or any fan really and comments on a broadcast want to make you harass someone or send threats to someone you need to take a big hard look at yourself, thats some clown behavior.

Cool story, Bro. Bieksa the Oilers hater just recently came out on the side of Darnell Nurse when refusing to interview with the Edmonton media who had been trashing Nurse. John Garrett dressed as a backup for the Oilers when their goaltenders had injury problems and Glen Sather signed him to a one day contract. Garrett states, "Once an Oiler, always an Oiler." Meanwhile Brian Hall spent 40 years fluffing Edmonton, the pro sports teams and himself while sneering and trashing rival teams and rival cities.
