Spytek has such a great combination of being a good guy, a real guy, his straight forwardness with being a very intelligent man. He has such a deep understanding of all the layers to this game and the players it takes to succeed. He will ABSOLUTLEY have an opportunity to be a GM somewhere. I do hope we get to benefit from him being here as long as possible though! I think this was a VERY solid draft for us. I predict when people are analyzing this draft 2 years from now they will talk about just how much most of these draft picks have contributed on game days.

very good draft class, hope it turns out to provide more wins next year. Two new O linemen may give Baker an extra second in the pocket may be a huge difference. Combine this with another edge rusher and cornerback on D, a jitterbug running back, and a speedy tight end, might look even better.

There is no way not to be extremely disappointed with Buccaneer’s 2024 NFL Draft selections. Following a day 1 pick that was underwhelming but at least somewhat safe, Day 2 and Day 3 it was a horror movie that just kept getting worse and worse with every pick. It was clear to anybody who studied this draft that Premium talent was condensed to fill picks 1-19 and after that, the best value in this draft would be between early 3rd round till mid 4th round. With that being said, we were in a good position to have a very good draft because we had 2 x third round pick and because we had many needs, we had more flexibility to move down and get more picks on the way. We could have traded down on 1st round, earned a third rounder or early fourth and still come out with a day 1 starter: Newton, Koolaid, Cooper DeJean, JPJ. But for the sake of going to what we did worse, I will say that taking Barton and losing the opportunity of getting another pick is okay. As we waited for pick 57 to be called, we could have moved up to try to get JPJ or Cooper DeJean( Not my favorite idea but still far better than what we ended up doing) When we finally reached pick 57, it was clear to me that the best move was to trade down ( preferably to the early 70s) to acquire another important pick and we would still have great options on the table. Assuming that we did not have any other team trying to trade up ( theory that I don’t believe for a second), there were several players that we could have drafted that would be far more impactful and would be able to help us from day 1. I will start the list with Javon Bullard because of our pick 89. Why on earth would we pass on Javon Bullard to overreach on pick 89 and draft a safety that was estimated to go late 4th round? Apart from Javon Bullard there was, Jaylen Wright, Blake Corum, Corley, Jermaine Burton, Troy Franklin,Jetavion Sanders, Christian Haynes, Jonah Ellis, Renardo Green, T. J Tampa, Khyree Jackson and Roman Wilson. If picking a safety was part of the plan in this draft, passing on Javon Bullard is a crime against humanity. Is not like we couldn't get other Safeties in the draft later on late 4th to late 5th rounds. Christian Hansey was clearly the best safest choice for pick 57 if trading down was not an option. Why? Because tackle to IOL conversions is not an easy proposition. Yes, you did get it right with Ali Marpet but for 1 conversion that was successful we also had several unsuccessful. Ex: When Quinn Meinerz was left on the Board to try to convert Hainsey that was a mistake. Goedeke conversion to guard did not work and thank god he is holding things up at RT. Cody Mauch conversion to guard has been very difficult and painful( I also don't understand why he was not placed as left guard instead of completely changing his side). Selecting Christian Haynes would be not only a great possible day 1 starter but a good protective hedge in case Barton struggles in the conversion process. Braswell seems like a very low ceiling, rotational DL, and then again we could find that easily on later rounds. The only thing that would steer me from drafting Christian Haynes is if I was planning on drafting McCormick. In that case I would go with best possible receiver specially considering that Godwin is entering his final year and likely we wont have money to resign him. In that case best talent available at WR would be Jermaine Burton or Corley. I would draft Jermaine Burton in that situation because I think he will be an amazing professional if surrounded by good examples and we have that in Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Wirfs and others. Because the odds of McCormick being available at 89 or 92 is quiet high, I would pick Jermaine Burton here betting on his talent, 0 drops in 2023 and 9 contested catches. As we get to pick number 89 there was still several great options on the table looking at team needs and positional value, I would draft Jaylen Wright here so we would have two very strong runners and also so I would have more leverage negotiating Rashad White contract next year.92 - I would pick McCormick By pick 125 My priority would be Mo Kamara, if he was not available my second priority would be Sedrick Van Pran at Center. The way things fell I would have drafted Mo Kamara and I would trade a future pick right after to secure Sedrick Van Pran as well. Quick Recap : 1- Barton, 2-Jermaine Burton, 3- Jaylen Wright 4-McCormick 5- Mo Kamara Extra pick : Sedrick Van Pran. Last two picks: Pick 220: Michael Barret LB Pick 245: Jaylen Harrel EDG I would have Jalen Sundell Tackle, Jalen Green Edge, Josh Wallace CB, Leonard Taylor and Gabe Hall on my speed dial to sign them the minute the draft was over. If picking a Safety was a must, my draft would be the following: 1-Barton 2-Javon Bullard 3- Jaylen Wright 4- McCormick 5- Mo Kamara Extra pick :Sedrick Van Pran 220: Michael Barret 245: Jalen Harrell As you can see this draft is achievable without assuming anything going different than it did. I am 1000% sure that those players will be more valuable and will succeed at a higher rate than the ones selected this week. I really struggle to understand why we miss so many good opportunities in almost every draft. The reason why some teams are successful more often lies on the way they draft. I feel we have been doing a poor job with some exceptions… 2021 was an F 2022 was C minus 2023 was an A quality draft but that is the main issue. Our average needs to be a B plus or A minus. My grade for 2024 draft for every pick is: 26- B+ 57- C minus 89-F 92- C 125-C 220-D 245-F Total Draft Grade is a D
