Holy holy holy f! Amazing, never knew this existed, it's just cropped up on my feed after watching John and Liam's new single, clicked on the thumbnail thinking it was recorded in Japan and in small print at the bottom it's from the homecoming Manchester Ritz gig I went to over 20 years ago! Easily in my top 3 gigs of all time, I'm so glad this recording exists, this has made my day. Great memories, John Squire about ten feet away, just mind blowing watching him play, a stunning show, huge sound in a small packed venue. Me and my friends were excited in the days leading up to the gig, word had got out John was playing 3 roses songs in his set - that night he played seven! He started with Driving South, never forget the band coming on stage and launching into that, the song took on a whole different meaning compared with the album version, much more alive and mind-blowing. He also played Waterfall, afterwards saying "tune that isn't it"! Haha. The crowd were awesome. He played Fools Gold at some point too. Thanks so much for uploading this. Surely if this exists, then John recorded the whole gig and that exists somewhere.

I went to the gig at the Ritz. The intro was phenomenal, with the Resurrection jam followed by Driving South. His voice didnt bother me at all. He knew he was never gonna be a great singer so he made do with being a vocalist 😉 The fact that he'd never sung publicly before and chose to go solo says a lot about the guy's character.

Well John Squire may not have had the greatest singing voice but at least he could sing live in tune, unlike Ian Brown. I saw the Seahorses back in the day and own both of Squire's solo albums. I'm so happy he's back on guitar and writing music.

I have the Japanese version of TCE. This is not the Japanese version of the album, this is a Live EP which was released exclusively in Japan, it was not available anywhere else.

@@tompoynton horrendous in which regard? Do you say the same about Dylan and Bowie? He is hitting all the right notes, you just don’t like the tone of his voice. Thats fine obviously, it’s subjective. But I’d say scoffing at it as if it’s objectively shit just makes you look like a close minded moron. Infact it’s objectively better singing than Ian at Reading, because he is actually singing the intended melody. He is in tune.
