Pero reflexionando sobre su situación y la de otros, ellos como personas dedicadas al arte son altamente sensibles, por lo que son muy propensos a caer en adicciones... Pero gracias a esa sensibilidad nosotros hemos disfrutado de su música entre otros atributos... Y escuchamos sus canciones que tanto nos han deleitado... I can't believe Andy and John were high into drugs but I heard later on John went to rehab to surrender his drug habits and glad to hear Andy had the will power to surrender his drinking and drugs habit too.

andy was just as much of a cokehead as john. only andy never think he ever had problem and never went into rehab. while john chose to breaking the habit and clean himself up. good thing about john which i admire so much is that he didnt succumb to his addiction. infact he's still more successful eventhough he was coked up than most people sober.

perhaps you dont know that drugs can be so addictive just like psychotropic drugs, nicotine, and alcohol. and some people can be more addicted than others. even though they actually dont wanna take drugs but their body is craving for it. people only judging john for doing drugs despite that he's clean now without bother to find out the reason why he turned to drugs. we are all addicted to something as a coping mechanism. only we're not living in public display like John where everyone can see.

I'm not speculating too much to say that most people who get addicted have some trauma in childhood or in their past so probably this may be true of John and maybe he surpressed memories of something that happened to him. I'm not saying it did but that is what statistics show. He had an addiction to cocaine, ecstasy and alcohol most notable. But he would use drugs while drinking. And he only ever had a cigarette in his hand when he was drinking. Now his partying ways were when he had time on his hands not on stage. He finally realized how unhappy he was. But one night he went out with Amanda's brother to a bar and to a house for dope and he supposed to be home by 10pm but got home at 10am the next day. That's day he decided he needed to seek help and he did. He said that was the best day of his life! He's been clean and sober over 20 years now. So he definitely went to hell and back before he got help he needed.

LOVE all 5 of these guys b/c they will always be Duran Duran that way! Even with their independent, separate groups and projects, when they come together, even if, just 4 now, it's still great music and great entertainment!!!! Unfortunately, that's true. Drug abuse just about killed John, he had to leave the band to get help for addiction in 1995. If you see pictures or video of him from that time frame you can see how rail-thin he was. Andy handled it somewhat better, but he had more self-control than John.

By the time they made Big Thing I saw them play Roseland for that small venue tour they did to promote the album.....JOhn looked skeletal. His face didn't even look the same. A big difference from when I seen them in 87. @@SarahB1863
