John knew what would happen after he was killed. He mentioned 'they say they won't tell but they will'....the story of how his father was beat...twice...honestly with no tricks.....and how his father was a welch....would even kill his own son so he didn't have to pay up. What kind of loyalty or respect will that instill in the people his father associates with. His father's 'word' is no good. If his father was willing to welch on a debt and has no loyalty even for his own son, then its only a matter of time before his father is betrayed himself and gets a bullet in the back of the head. In effect, by letting his father kill him, he pretty much guarantees his father's death.

He had a great character and ending. People in show business are terrified of writing characters like this nowadays.

Seems almost like john knew and was prepared to die. Like he wanted to see just how much his "father" cares for him. Or almost like he felt he deserved to die for what happened to Marcie, her death happened because of him. So he decided to beat his father, expose the bullshit of his so called skills and even give up his own life to make up for the pain Marcie experienced.

I think this episode contributed a lot to the commercial failure of the second movie. It is too depressing and nihilistic.Bruce Willis death in the first one was an epic sacrifice.

It's a good thing that Sin City isn't located somewhere in Canada, or we'd have spent half the movie watching Johnny wait three weeks to see a doctor. As it was, he got fixed up at a price he could afford and he was in and out in a reasonable amount of time.

@@ct000374910 yeah I was just making a joke about how American hospitals will find any reason to charge you and then do the bare minimum to take care of you

Why did John go to some back alley doctor he had to pay when he could have gone to a hospital and gotten quality treatment for free?
@LateNightRadioTalker232 ай бұрын
Cuz it's sin city there are no hospitals

It's sin city there are no doctors even the medicine that Marv takes was prescribed to him by Dr. Kroenig

"Quality treatment" costs money which Johnny didn't have. Medical supplies aren't free. Doctors and nurses don't work for free. Even assuming he had health insurance, he would have had to pay a sizeable deductible. To say nothing of the fact that doctors at a hospital would have had to report a gunshot wound to the police, which might not have been what Johnny wanted. Plus, hospital security is notoriously terrible--not the safest place to recuperate when you have gangsters after you. A back-alley doctor is Johnny's best bet at this point.
