I cannot get through the original without weeping. It's haunting indeed - I would call that the paradigm of understatement. I am old enough to remember, and I cannot imagine how any artist could capture such an event, and the underlying unanswerable questions - in a song like this. But that, of course is the genius of Sufjan Stevens. You have done a wonderful and moving job with this. Thank you - you are lovely. "Even more they were boys with their cars, summer jobs, oh my God." Oh my God indeed.
