This is amazing. Long comment coming: What's your secret, man? I've been playing piano for 27 years and play professionally full time. I've got a fairly decent ear (i think) and can get pretty close to the actual soundtrack when I try and transcribe film score music in my head. But your chord choices and melodic lines are so spot on that it almost seems like you are sight reading the source material for all of these cues. But i cant find these specific cues published as sheet music for purchase anywhere. Neither for solo piano nor studio orchestra score. Do you have access to the full orchestral score and are using your conductor/orchestrator brain to put together piano arrangements for these cues? If you do have access to these full orchedtral scorebooks (including specific cues for scenes like this) how did you get your hands on them? Did you or your orchestra organization purchase the performance or sync rights to these scores directly from the studio? Like, did you have to buy this music from Lucasfilm/Disney? Or is your ear just freakishly good at transcriptions? Sorry for all the questions, but ive been watching you pull these off so well and I would love to be able to perform a similar setup in a private party gig or something.

Thanks so much for watching, Matt! As for how I do these, it really depends on the project, but often I'm simply transcribing things by ear, then lining them up with film by use of a clock. I read a scan of my transcription from an iPad on the right side of my piano music rack and watch the clock on another iPad on the left side. Hope this is helpful!
