I'm trying to learn this piece on the bassoon (although I don't have the range to do some of it), and I think its a really underrated John Williams piece. And your rendition is fantastic. Your tone is flawless and very relaxed. You're also so expressive while you play.

This is my freshman solo for the spring. This is a very fun piece to play, quite difficult however, especially the second page. I always come back to this video, because this is my favorite version of this piece. I wish I could hit those altissimo notes as cleanly as you can, I do play on my old E-11, which I have been told that it’s holding me back on what I can really do, but I don’t make excuses when it comes to clarinet, I just need to practice more, and work on my air support, long tones, etc. Anyway, great job on this piece!

Love it, just got back into the clarinet after 21 year break and would love to play this at some point …. really inspiring! Currently working on grade 6 (ABRSM UK) repertoire so I think some of the more technical passages might be beyond me at the moment.
@sabinedeixler26372 жыл бұрын
Hi Simon, I'd rate it as a grade 8 piece. But that shouldn't stop you from trying. Up to measure 43 should be pretty doable for you. And from 76 until the end with the cadence slowed down a bit as well. And those parts are FUN! Just give it a try and enjoy!

It's a beautiful piece of music. It does have an uncanny similarity to Enio Morricone's main title theme for 'Two Mule's for Sister Sara', especially the clarinet and flute parts...

Amazing sound. I am studying this currently and I love and admire your version. I was wondering what type of clarinet you are playing? You have a beautiful soft tone. Just curious. I am going to put your video on repeat now :)

@@john.kurokawa CSG III here - pair of them - they are kind of wonderful. I just use the mouthpieces they come with. I'll look in to the Wodkowski perhaps.

Nicely done on piano. The orchestra is not too missed because the clarinet says it all. You just need rhythm accompaniment. This is a great piece for clarinet solo. John Williams scores again!
