I think it makes sense they cast Jean Grey as too young. She will eventually grow into her role for a series of Xmen movies. I hope they adapt the very first iteration of the team from the 1960s as the first Xmen movie, then expand the team further in upcoming sequels

@christianaseron4420 I hope we get the O5 first, too. But in this age of inclusiveness, too many people would complain. My guess is that the lineup will look pretty similar to the one in X-Men '97. Storm, Jean, Scott, and Logan are pretty much automatic. Rogue, Jubilee, and Beast would likely round out the main team. They'll probably add in Kamala as well.

But Iman Vellani is the same age as Sadie (22), and Marvel has been trying to push her as the face of mutants, both in the comics and in the MCU. Plus, she's already a battle-tested character with very close ties to the Avengers, so there is a strong chance that Kamala will be the bridge between the X-Men and Avengers; an extremely important role. I believe that Kamala might very well be the POV character of the X-Men, regardless of who makes up the rest of the team.

That's assuming that the MCU is beginning with their origin stories. For all we know, this could be like the FOX films, where the core is already a well-oiled machine that has been operating in secret. We just don't know what overall direction Marvel is going with them, or their interactions with the rest of the superhero community, so it's understandable that some people may be concerned that certain comicbook relationships and interactions wouldn't work because of age differences.

Just glad there’s gonna stick with a natural redhead - Hollywood never uses redheads, if there’s a pre existing character who is ginger, they get a brunette to dye it, or alternatively they change the race to black/asian (which ticks off boxes for them at the expense of not presenting red heads). What’s even more frustrating is when they have a red headed character such as Starlord in GOTG1 or Daredevil S1, they make him brunette for later seasons. This is a totally ignored issue In Hollywood.

They will obviously soft reboot the MCU after Secret Wars to fold in Fantastic 4 and X-Men into the universe, and in this reboot the will give context. Fox actors wont be a part of the new MCU, but the essence of its universe, the X-men, kinda will.

To me, it's okay. Just that all the xmen characters are comic book accurate and not swapped. Isn't the xmen movie supposed to be after the next two averger movies? So mutants will probably exist after the realignment, so there is one universe with Marvel characters. Before then, probably a different universe helping the mcu fight against Doctor Doom or alternate Ironman. Still don't know how they're going to do that story.

I would've preferred a little older, mainly because of classic relationships between Marvel characters that I wanted to see translated to the MCU. Normally, I'm not an ageist, but it's going to be a little weird seeing Logan lusting after a 20-something kid (unless they cast someone younger and say that Logan visually ages more slowly than in the comics). My guess is that either the Avengers will be recast as 20-somethings after Secret Wars, or Marvel will stagger the X-Men's ages, similarly to what 'X-Men: Evolution' did (ex: Scott and Jean were teens, while Logan and Storm were older adults). I think that there will be some global incident that will cause the mutant population (and their uncontrolled powers/transformations) to explode overnight, causing mass panic. Some disaster(s) or crime(s) will be mutant-related, causing the public to start turning on their loved ones; perhaps religious extremists like Stryker convince people that mutants are sinful demons or something. Whatever Marvel does, I just hope that they avoid making the same mistakes that FOX made.

That's specifically why I said "unless they cast someone younger and say that Logan visually ages more slowly than in the comics". I'm not worried about his comic age, I'm concerned about the age of the actor playing opposite the young actress. I read an interview a couple of months ago about an actress (I think it was Laura Dern) that was complaining about how she and many other younger actresses often had to do love interest scenes with actors much older than them. Not every actress is comfortable with doing that with people outside of their age range. We see it all the time, though, especially with action stars; often not realizing that some actors are older, and some actresses are younger, than they look. If our next Jean Grey is 22-24 when she meets our new Logan, then I suspect that whomever is cast as Logan will likely be (as well as look) close to her age.

The show introduced 2 new original characters one of them is whatever but the other is x-23 who has since gone on to be in one of marvel’s better works of the last couple years

Sadie was one of the actresses that popped in my head when I was casting XMen in my head about a year or so ago when we go the animated series. Not sure why I went so young for the casting (maybe I was thinking longevity for the XMEN)... but, I was thinking red heads with great acting chops and she popped in my head... so personally I want her for this role. I think shes a young super star early in her career, and I think for Marvel it would be a smart move to get her name signed on a contract asap.

She doesn't quite have that fit for me at least at first glance, but I do think she would be closer than Turner, but it kind of feels like they're just talking about her cause shes a red head lol. They don't all look the same lol, I never understood Chastain and Howard looking alike, its almost night and day in my eyes, literally the only similarity is having the same color hair, but even that is a different shade. Not saying shes a bad choice, nore could I not be proved wrong, she could be amazing. But looking back on the things that I loved the most tended to be most successful as well, it's usually when I look at the casting and the character my brain immediately goes "thats a jean grey" (or whatever character we're talking about.) Superman was the first to do this in a good while, (which is kinda sad idk whats been going in with casting lately) where I felt that way with all the casting choices from the get without even seeing them as the characters and afterwards even more so, im just like that is a superman, that is a lois lane, that is a mister terrific even, etc., didn't expect to be so hyped to see mr terrific, no on is left out, gunn even got the side characters right, which is esp important in a shared universe where those guys could come back many times and potentially have their own films. I don't think its a coincidence that the trailers doing so well. I think visuals are more important than given credit, not in a shallow way, but in a design matters kind of way. No i'm not saying cast someone that looks exactly like a character even if they're an absolute terrible actor. You still gotta build a good character and story around that of course, but its still an important ingredient, seeing these characters from comics in physical form is crucial to me cause why bother otherwise? Then make a different movie if you want to do that, why am i coming to see spiderman if the guys not going to look like spiderman? Can really make or break something imo. Another recent example being sonic, Shadow didn't even have to do anything for the crowd to go wild when he showed up, we just saw his foot first and the design was so accurate, but translated to live action that it creates such a visceral positive and exciting reaction when something is so satisfyingly translated. I'm not sure sonic would've made it past the first movie had they gone with the original design, maybe jim carrey could've carried it but it would've been tough going. I think we should care about details cause it all adds up, like even guy gardners hair isnt as "comic accurate" as you think if you actually look at it and not just say oh its a bowl cut they're all the same right, its a different bowl cut its actually literally a different bowl cut idk what else to say lol, not saying thats good or bad, like mentioned i still think all the castings are spot on here so far, but his hair is a little different and theres nothing wrong with pointing that out, and if I were making it I would be like lets see how far we can push it, how close can we get, maybe it doesnt work then we adjust. Anyway long winded, not trying to change anyones minds, but hopefully give some insight into why it matters to a lot of people, when they see these characters brought to life in such a flawless way its an amazing feeling. Or maybe this will just sound stupid and not articulated well, but trying here, i'm not Hemingway I'm sorry lol. Nothing wrong with not agreeing, I just see so many writing in about the visuals of characters and how excited they are and they always just get dismissed, Its ok if one is doesn't find it important, but I also think its ok that they feel that way as well, thats how I geek out with my friends, "wouldn't it be cool to see that character brought to life" etc. this is one of they only places where I see pushback on that, don't get me wrong your one of the most open and kind communities to differing opinion so this is the smallest of nitpicks. Nothing and no character or story is perfect, but I don't see why you shouldn't alway strive for better. People that don't care about this feel it too, I think it might just be less conscious, I can tell from they're and your reactions to the ones that are closer vs that aren't, there is an energy, a spark in your eyes when its really done well, its not a totally explainable quantifiable thing but thats art, it makes you feel.

My theory of how the mcu will introduce mutants will be a very slow burn. First, they'll make humans fear anything different (skrulls from secret wars), then they'll slowly have mutants pop up through history, just not leaving a big impact (namor) Then more mutants start popping out of nowhere, and humanity will be divided on whether humanity should fear them or not (introduce mutants we know in future movies/ shows) That is when everything we know about x-men will come in (xavier opening up his school, magneto starting the brotherhood, governments starting programs to solve the mutant problem, and the x-men trying show the world a better way)

My personal preference is them being established and histories reformed after Secret Wars. But if we got origins X-Men, then it’s simple. The world is already divided on armor, Sokovia accords (dissolving and demand for it back), super soldiers, and catastrophic costs related to super human activity. The discovery and rapid emergence of mutants will only serve to break world politics at this point and create a space where hate can blossom.

Honestly I'd be ok with them doing a live action version of the X-Men Evolution cartoon. Have Wolverine and Storm be the adults and have the rest be like high school age or even college age. That would definitely be different and it would fix stuff that some people didn't like. For example Cyclops being the leader instead of Wolverine. Have Cyclops be the one to hook up with Jean and not Wolverine. Etc.

In Days of Future Past, the world didn't know about mutants. Even most parts of the government didn't know. That took place in the . while Logan and Sabertooth were born in the late 1800's, meaning even if the Fox films, mutants were a secret for decades and decades. So mutants can be around, people like Nick Fury would of known about them, but they've only been revealed to the rest of the world somewhat recently. So you still get all the fear and hatred from the public, but it's a newer fear and hatred. In think you really could compare X-Men to trans people. 10 years ago the general public didn't really think about trans people. Maybe you knew someone who was public as trans, but more than likely, they hid that. Then suddenly trans rights are all over the news and affecting elections. You went from barely hearing about it to it being everywhere. It's a very small percentage of the population (just like mutants), but that's not what you'd think if you watched the news. I think mutants could go from barely there to changing the world just like that.
