As a PS5 and Pulse 3D user, I can confirm this. I used the back USB ports in the beginning but I had connectivity and sound issues. I have a different headset but I had the exact same experience. I have a Turtle Beach headset. I had just gotten it and I loved how it sounded playing audio from my phone and from the PS5, and especially how it could play audio from both at the same time, when it actually worked with the PS5 that is. It didn't take long to start experiencing connectivity and sound issues. I thought my awesome new headset was defective. It was the first really expensive headset I'd ever bought and I was very upset but it occurred to me that I should do what I would do if I was using it with a computer, switch USB ports. I did that and the issues immediately stopped. It hadn't occurred to me that it was the heat that caused the issues. I was just happy it was good.

Sounds to me more like a wireless signal issue than anything else, as a rule of thumb, you want those RF transceivers to be in direct line of sight and in close range, as they usually don't have good antennas (to save cost, space and have better aesthetic for the most part, people just don't like an antenna sticking out, even though it's still the most viable effective solution) and these devices usually have to operate in high RF noise environment (a lot of devices operating in the same frequency allocation) so the range is usually a lot more limited than people anticipated.

Can’t believe they don’t have people who test these designs..who builds a new gen console with a tiny hdd where’s the 4tb in built drives..also why design a huge dongle when a small tiny dongle would be better suited to avoid damage to the unit if bumped

My Logitech headsets dongle used to get pretty warm after an hour or so of use. My ps5 sits on the middle shelf of my desk and is open to the air. Exhaust vents warm it up quick even with proper airflow. I’ve started plugging my g923 wheel into the back now and the headset in the front. So far no problems

I didn’t have issues with heat having the dongle in the back, it was having a USB hard drive plugged into the back at the same time that caused the connection to cut out.

I also own the 3D headset and have occasionally heard something similar to static or audio breakup. It doesn't happen when I first start but after long sessions will I begin to experience static like noise and breakup.

I'd recommend plugging a wire from your headset to controller, noticeably better sound quality that way.

Dongles should stick out by at least 1foot and be florescent yellow so they easy to to see and avoid accidently knocking them

One issue I have experienced is the headphones audio cutting in and out during gameplay. I realized the issue was having my external hardrive connected next to the headphones dongle. Other than, the dongle works fine for me in the back of the console.

I think I saw somewhere an instruction that said that audio things should be plugged to the front USB... Don't remember where I saw it but I've been using that port ever since

I got the a50 plug in the back and the steel series plugged in the front. If you want to change headsets, press ps button to pull up audio and change output.
