Cache is used to store things like web pages and images so they don't need to be downloaded every time you see it. for instance, your friends' profile pictures will be cached to it doesn't need to download them when you check your friends list. Clearing cache, while in some cases can speed up a system, doing it frequently will actually cause more slowdown. I'd say maybe clear it every couple years but not daily

@@KryptoKn8 nah thats not how it works they will introduce new features, update databases, improve security etc. (which will also introduce new bugs to fix) the updates should only slightly drop in frequency untill PS5 reaches its EOL and stops recieving them alltogether (thats prob in over 10 years or so)

Just a simple note, make sure to eject any external hard drive that connected to your PS5 before doing something in Safe Mode I once try rebuilding database for the PS5 with my external hard drive connected, after that literally all of PS4 and PS5 game inside the drive was gone, including the PS Plus game, I tried to install all of it back but PS5 telling me it's already installed even though the external hard drive was empty Had to format the external hard drive and install all of the lost game, and trust me if you have bad internet, it'll be a long day

I don't know why somebody would need this. It's an ssd so you don't need to rebuild for faster accesstimes and most importantly, you decrease the lifetime of the ssd by doing this very often 🤦‍♂️

He didn't rebuild the database. Just cleared the cache. Only time you'll need a rebuild is if you've been constantly changing games. Redownloading multiple games and vice versa. Since it pretty much clumps up the files making it disorganized. (It does this for every update regardless. )

Thanks for this. This comment is two years after this publication, but one thing to note is that when plugging the controller in it needs to be in the front USB port. I usually have my controller hardwired to the back USB port because I use the front one for my Bluetooth wireless headset transmitter, so when I tried this and got my PS5 into safe mode as directed here the controller wouldn’t connect via the rear USB port. Fortunately when I tried again plugging into the front USB port it worked fine.

Well, actually cache makes your system faster. It just occupies some space, not much, just some. Even if you delete the cache the system will rebuild it anyway.

Not a monitor. LG 55NANO866NA is the best budget TV around for next generation consoles it has HDMI 2.1, FreeSync and VRR. Unlikely to find cheaper that can do all that.

Cant speak definitively but clearing caches in general sometimes helps loading/ram issues. Its generally not needed but in some cases it can help. For example mobile phones get bogged down and laggy managing different apps on limited hardware and sometimes clearing the cache will help troubleshoot the problem as old data gets cleared up. Same would apply with any other system cache issues.

This is only for if you have a PS5 for a while and installed and played a lot of games. It literally is like emptying the trash leftover from things like updates, games etc. Rebuilding database I am not as sure about but I assume it is just a fancy way of saying fixing some crap that mighta not been working due to software issues.
